hi guys, (i have the 1.8tfsi dsg7)

I went to audi germany's recall page (google translate)
Rückrufaktionen > Audi Deutschland

entered my vin

and it came up with this issue (re-typed in google translate)

software update engine control id - 24AB

anyone did this update or has any idea exactly what it does?

The dealer in my country is clueless.
Thanks for your help.
Karl.

Found this on another site:

Aktion: S-Softwareupdate Motorsteuergerät ID: 24AB : Audi A3 8V

Here is the info from Audi to the S-24AB engine control unit software update action:

At Audi vehicles with 4 cylinder gasoline engine and an automatic transmission of a particular production period is possible
that the motor can no longer boot when he was stopped by the start-stop system and at the same time by the driver with the ignition key.

Spoke to the guys at my dealer today about something else and while I was there I asked them about the update, so they have booked me in for it, don't think they where aware of it but they looked up the code and said yes this "recall" is outstanding on your car!

They confirmed it is to resolve the above issue not the lag at junctions. But they are going to look into this after they have done the update.

Ooh left my phone in the car so sorry no pic but roped off in the showroom was an unregistered old school Quattro with 18 miles on the clock sent over from the heritage centre in Germany. Nice :)

I received a letter today from my local dealer quoting Campaign 24AB...they say I need to bring my car in because it's 'very important' to carry out an update as soon as possible.

Hmmm...

any more information on that??

I am booked in on Monday for the update, 24AB is to stop the car failing to re start if you turn the ignition off at the same time start/stop kicks in.
While they have the car they are going to take a look into the lag issue.

My ECU software was updated today by Audi. The ubiquitous 'lag' issue appears to have significantly improved... but I think I need a few more miles to make a more informed assessment.

My audi A3 just would not start, pressing start only got accessories going, no engine crank. Was fixed by disconnecting battery and reconnecting. When checked by dealer, they did the 24ab update. Why do they not recall all cars rather than just wait for a problem ? Anyway, all is good and the lag issue, which I thought was just something to put up, with is all gone. Car now runs so well, beyond expectations. My advice is to get the update if called for.

I agree it would be good of Audi to inform customers. I can only think it's not that critical to do urgently or they are prioritising older cars first. I haven't received a letter yet.

There will be a cutoff date when this was corrected at the factory but mine was built week 34/35 (end of August) and is flagged on the German website as needing this.

Will phone dealer on Monday and get them to look at a few things at the same time.

John.
