hey
ive been looking at this for a while now trying to find out info on the matter
and from what i can see the passenger air bag switch which is in the glove box
was a factory extra from audi on the pre facelift models?
ive seen that they can be retro fitted by someone who knows what there doing ?
but i cant seem to find the part number for the switch itself or the part number for the interior lights which
aparently have a light on to say its the air bags off before you start the car ?

any help would be appreacated on this matter
as its bugging me and i dont want my air bag to go off like its done before when i hit a pothole :(

Don't know about the switch code or even how easy it is to fit it into a pre-facelift car which didn't get those, but if you only want to disable the airbag (without needing it enabled often), there are other ways of doing it you know. You can just unplug the wires from the connector (if it's still there, if it isn't just disconnect the two wires) that is located under the glovebox. Then you'll get the annoying airbag light on in your dashboard, if you want (or need) to get rid of that you need to connect a resistor into the disconnected plug (that runs to airbag control unit) to trick the airbag control unit into believing it's still connected. BEWARE this will disable you airbag, it shouldn't go off this way, also meaning whoever is riding in the passenger seat won't have the same safety as the driver does. Meaning if you disable it, it will all be on you when anything happens.

I'm not for sure about the A3 (8L), but some other cars can disable the passenger airbag via the cable in VCDS. Best to my knowledge, it depends on the airbag control unit as there are alot of different versions depending on airbag setups out there in the A3s. It might be worth taking a deeper look into that matter though, as it's probably the easiest way. Yet obviously disconnecting the wires is the surest way of disabling it.

does anyone know th part numbers for these bits ??? cheers

The one I have for sale has 3 part numbers on it. I'm selling it as part of an S3 8L facelift security & locks set. Yes, the interior light (already sold with black headlining kit) had a worded light on it saying when the passenger airbag was disabled.
