hey ;)
right ive been researching this as my egr is crudded up and it seems like the best thing to do as i hear it keeps the engine clean
but every where i look i get different views on the matter and people saying different things

so i am looking for some info on the matter

some people say that if you egr delete your car your get a judder issue appear?
is this a problem? or is it something that is only on certain engines?

and some people say that it will flag up a engine light on the dash board and you have to have dpf removed i think
but then other people say that its only on the newer models that have this issue?

my car is a 1998 a3 tdi 110bhp

would mine be affected by any of this ?

any help most appreciated

cheers Nick

The EGR delete is mapped out of the ecu so won't flag up a cel light.
Speak to Mark @ Brotek as he does quite a few. Never heard of people getting juddering after woulds but I don't have a diesel so can't comment personally.

It won't need mapping out on a 110tdi.

vwbandit, I have just don't the EGR blanking mod on my Passat TDI 115PD, the plate cost me 3 or 4 quid off ebay and took me 30 minutes to fit at the manifold end. Cars on 208k miles now, and wish I did it 10 years ago!! Benefits is the engine runs smoother and more mpg, I averaged 40mpg before, but afterwards, 43mpg+ now, no difference in driving style, I've averaged 47mpg using brim to brim figures on one tank of motorway driving only. Bear in mind my car is an Estate wearing 18" alloys and has the 5spd gearbox instead of the newer 6spd.
Drawback is it take longer to warm up, especially in this colder weather! I'm suppose to remove the blanking plate for winter, but it's too damn cold and wet, not to mention, I cut the vacuum pipe that operates the EGR valve short, so I would need to extend that again for it to work.

Ahh thank you for the advice that's a huge help :) I'll get online and order one up when I'm home from work 😄 . And ahh well I do long drives to and from work so as long as I leave it to heat up before I drive it should be ok :) and sounds like a win win all round thanks again
