hi peeps ,
ive recently noticed my car steaming up so set about hunting a leak !
found the spare wheel well full of water !
now its never done this before and before you all tell me it's the washer jet pipe , i don't use my rear wash or wipe ;)
the only thing thats changed since this started is i have fitted facelift rear lights off my mrs written off facelift TQS .
i used the foam sealing pads from her lights and my bulb holders .

so my question id what have i done wrong ?

hey I'm not sure if I have the right answer for you hopefully someone will be along soon to correct me if I'm wrong
but I had the same problem with my Lupo Gti and is a known fault on the lupo Gti . Where there is a rubber bung/ seal underneath the spare wheel hole and it perishes and start to allow water through . I only worked it out after I found a spare wheel well soaking wet . It only happened when it rained a lot or was cold and damp outside. It's just a idea I hope this helps

hi , thanks for the reply but it isnt a bung in the floor as the wheel well was holding water , if there was a leak it would also run out aswell as in , plus the boot carpet was wet and the upper part of the boot floor !
thanks anyway

Have you checked the rubber seal surrounding the edges of the boot...could just be a simple tear in the rubber:confused:

No I don't think so !
Im guessing that would make the head lining wet ?
Im convinced it's related to the new facelift lights in some way but not sure how !
are the foam and rubber seals the same on pre and facelift lights ?

Itll be one of 3 things, I know as I had this for 2 years.

It'll either be

Aerial base will be leaking (replace or silicone it)
The boot hinges where it connects to the roof, the plastic covers trap water and runs down (remove the plastic and douse in silicone)
The rear lights are leaking, remove and douse the foam area of the lights with silicone.

I guarantee it'll be 1 of the 3

Dani is right. I silicone'd the aerial base and hinges last weekend on his advice and I think mines drying out. Check your rear seat belts - they wet too?
