Hi all, every time I get in my a3 (1.6 engine code bfq. 76k miles 52' plate). Soon as I press the accelerator I hear something like bubbles going through some pipes! Soon as I press my foot down it sounds like something blows all the bubbles away. It does this once for about a second or two every time the car has sat for a while. Coolant level looks fine. Cambelt and water pump change at 75k (only 1000miles) Please bear in mind this has always done this even before water pump change) The temp on the gauge is fine at 90. No eml on.... It sounds to me like its air in the coolant system and when I put my foot down the water pump spins faster therefor pushes the bubbles away.

I get a similar noise to what you are describing, mine seems to be linked to the heaters though although now you mention it I do only hear it on idle after a good blast, I'm going to have to listen more carefully when driving now. Does yours seem to change at all with the heaters/aircon on or off?

Just read this ticketyboo, a couple of posts down might interest you (link below may not work, I've got no clue how to insert links tbh)
