Ok well having had a 1.9 tdi and tuned that I went with a Southbend stg2 clutch,,

So I now have a sportback 170 that's been tuned around 220hp mark I think. I'm suffering clutch slip in forth gear +...

So have people got any experience or advice as the 6 speed clutches are near 1k and that's well alot lol! My mapper said a brand new luk or sachs will be fine at that power and alot cheaper but I don't want to buy it then it slip.....

Advice? Anyone done this?

Thanks Ad

helix or sachs loba kit wouldnt get a southbend again or smf myself

Can you both explain further? My Southbend was fine on my old audi?

What's the Sachs rated too brodster?

the clutch friction plate was dragging on the pressure plate /flywheel they had a problem with a batch and if you do a internet search your find them . the guys at darkside were brilliant and managed to get a replacment out of them for me but i still had labour costs and it left me with a bad taste in my mouth as far as southbend are concerned

The Loba/Sachs Stage 2 clutch for the TDI is rated to 550Nm but will comfortably handle 600Nm. I have sent the Loba dude a meesage as I want to verify that they have them at this time and then I shall PM you a price. This is what you will get.

The LOBA-Sachs sports clutch kit includes

  • Sachs Performance clutch cover
  • Sachs Performance clutch disc organic
  • LOBA Billet lightened & balanced single-mass flywheel made of special chromoly steel (6.7 kg)
  • Clutch cover bolts
  • Torque rating 550 nm / 405 lbft

If you do go for one remember and buy a new set of flywheel bolts as the old ones will be useless as they are stretch bolts as Loba DO NOT supply them in this kit.

I'm thinking of getting a new uprated clutch for my a3 tdi quattro, i thought smf sounded like a tractor on a diesel and vibrated loads?

Maybe a paddle does I had a organic disc and it was better than the dual mass...

As taken from the Loba website to make you aware of the noise a SMF makes:-

"please take note, when converting from the original dual mass flywheel to a single mass performance alternative, some vibration often termed as "chatter" can be felt at low RPM and also at idle in neutral - this is nothing to be concerned over"

Happy with my standard sachs flywheel with a Helix clutch can handle my 233bhp 309 ftlb remap.....

Okay well if the "chatter" isn't that noticeably louder I will go with the smf or will the sachs dual mass, organic disc and sachs uprated clutch cover be able to handle 600Nm because I want to be running around 300bhp in the near future?

is there a limit to torque tuning with a DSG box? I've a 2007 2.0tdi SB 170 DSG, 50k miles FASH

Was looking a tdi tuning plug in, seems good value

cheers
