Hi,

I have a 55 plate Audi A3 Sportsback 1.6, yesterday when I was driving a weird noise starting occurring in the area around the CD player/climate control, at first I thought there was something wrong with the Audi Concert or the CD I was playing that was causing an issue, it was like a ticking/clicking noise that occurred for like 3 clicks in a row, I don't really know how to explain it any better, I tried turning the CD player off and ejecting the CD to see if that made any difference but it didn't.

Then when I was driving I noticed there was like 1 click every minute or so, and then at random maybe every 4-5 minutes the 3 clicks in a row are repeated, then today I started to notice when I opened the car door or turned the key before starting the car that it started to click at those moments as well.

Sorry if I've left any information out, I'm new to this but the noise is really starting to irritate me, I only got the car 3 weeks ago and it has been perfectly fine up until this noise started to occur.

I'll try to record a video of it tomorrow as it also happens when the car is stationary.

It used to happen on my old A3... think its just a common noise and doesn't affect the AC or anything.. I can't tell you for sure what it is.. but what I can tell you is, that it was doing it on my car intermittently for ages without any faults, so dont think its a serious issue to worry about... be be quite interested to see what it is for definite myself...

Did it eventually stop by itself or?

Inside the climate control, there are motors that operate flaps to direct the air through the aircon matrix, or the heater matrix, all dependent on what temperature is set. Could possibly be these adjusting themselves to the desired temperature. I have heard however, that these motors sometimes need resetting to zero, which can be done through VCDS. Perhaps you could consider this aspect and get someone with VCDS to make a reset and see if it fixes the problem. Good luck.

Sorry I'm not familiar with VCDS, what is it?

And the noise occurs regardless if the air-con is on or off.

Mine does this, very annoying, I solved it by turning the stereo up

I tried doing that, I can deal with the single clicks when I turn up the stereo but when it clicks 3-4 times simultaneously that is really irritating and having that regularly throughout a journey is not what I want.

yeah mine usto do this i think all of them do this i thought it was the cd going around in the cd player on the lens or something at 1st but even when i ejected it it still happend, i usto hear a noise every 30 seconds or so faintly rom the cd player area under the dashboard,i know its nothing major and yeah i turned the radio up aswell

Yeah I can sympathise completely, sometimes it seems louder than usual, the advice is right though, you need to reset the flaps on vcds, only reason I haven't done it is because I haven't had access to it

my stereo does a clicking noise must be the radio because it stops when the radio is off

Completely forgot about this thread, but I found a resolution issue, it happens when you use the auto button on the climate control so your best off not using it and just adjusting everything manually, haven't had the problem ever since.
