Can anyone tell me what the temp sensor located on the bottom rad hose is for and what issues arise from it?
Its showing up as open circuit on the fault code list.
Its a 1.8t avj

Cheers

its to tell the ECU the temp
if its showing a fault check wireing or change it
what code did you get ?

I just went through this with my 2004 A4 1.8T. Ended up replacing both the thermostat and temp sensor.
I had just recently replaced Timing Belt and WaterPump - then temp gauge started having intermittent fluctuations - from mid range to cool. Never overheating.
The fault codes I got were: 17700 - P1292 004: Map Controlled Engine Cooling Thermostat F265 Open Circuit; and 19497 - P3041 004: Databus drivetrain implausible engine temp messaging from instrument cluster.
Hope that helps.

Cant remember the code. Just remeber I pointing out was the temp sensor on the lower rad hose. I just interested to know if it will directly effect fueling as its not running overly efficient just now. Also would it effect emissions as mot just around the corner

Also that reads as though im either ****** or stupid haha auto correct at its best
