Might be time to sell the stage 2 s3 for a bit more eco S-line Plus fully kitted out New q7.

Im hoping someone will convince me not to on here and tell me that its wrong. Im doing around 70miles per-day so fuel is "a lot"

Whats peoples thoughts on a 3ltr v6 245 q7?

No, they're a bit gangsta! (Although still lovely). A5 TDi? A4 Avant TDi Quattro? Q5?

I'm going to try and convince you not to.

I've had my local dealer try and interest me in the 3.0TDi and the V10 Q7.....both are great cars for what they set out to be,but by God they are huge.

Punting them down anything other than a motorway is a constant trial when you consider the wing mirrors etc,and parking is a pain.....then there's fuel, and even the diesels are thirsty beasts.

So,in short,lovely car,HUGE space,bit like driving an entire 3-piece suite,and did I say HUGE.

Proper spacious my dad had one for a year but its sluggish specially if you have a stage 2 s3, the q7 remapped felt better and tbh mpg isnt that great does 27 maximum but they do stand out alot

if your looking for fuel economy I will swap you my 60mpg black edition a3 :p haha. In all seriousness you are going to use a lot of diesel in a Q7 and do you actually need a 4x4?

Surely the answer here is the SQ5 - economy (compared to your stage 2 S3), decent pace, performance and sporty looks?

I've come to an s3 from a range rover sport and wouldn't get another 4x4 as they are boring missed having power at my foot!

The major contributing factor here Ilim is insurance......Q7 is gonna be kinda of pricey and an SQ5 probably the same and as your paying alot for insurance anyway I would certainly be getting a reputable quote first. Too many worrying threads on here about younger boys buying the car first and getting stung over insurance.

John think my heart is set on a SQ5. 3ltr coal burner with 313 bhp. Think that will do fine. :) plus not that expensive for a fully kitted one.

Insurance is no problem.

I LOVE the Q7, but where its concerned, there's no such thing as Eco, and road tax is double what I pay to INSURE my a3

Man walks into a dealership with space and economy in mind; you suggest a TTRS.

Amazing

If you think the Q7 & SQ5 will be a huge savings in fuel, forget it, apart from being bigger 4x4's, the lumps in them aren't exactly slim & can be thirsty as hell when driven as they should be, think realistically if its just for fuel reasons or just because you want a change, those cars are certainly not ones to consider if its fuel savings, now buy a 2.0 tdi cr or even a 1.6 tdi & that would be eco.

Hahahahaha...........Oh I think Ive seen a pig fly past the window.

I had a similar dilema couple of years ago.
Changing car is expensive and could in itself wipe out any fuel cost savings. But if you are changing purely for MPG then go for the one that gives the best MPG and still satisfies your need to have a `nice` car.

I went for a 320d which was a brilliant car at munching the miles.
45mpg round town, 55mpg on a run (not hanging around neither), amazing media Tech (Pro Nav, Hard drive, Idrive 2 etc..) the best seats I have sat in, and with 182bhp it held its one on the M Way. Would be my choice again if I find myself in the same situation again.
I did consider an A4 but really didnt like how the FWD drove and found the 140 derv gutless in the A4. 170dervs with quattro and a decent spec were bonkers money.

Basically a german 4 pot derv saloon will do the job nicely.

IMO a 6pot 4wd SUV is I liflestyle vehicle not an eco mile muncher so I wouldnt be looking at a Q7.
Mate of mine has one and its MAHOOSIVE.

FYI my neighbour just leased a Merc C220i AMG fro £299 pc. and sees upto 60mpg.

This is screaming small mile munching Eco car! As Dean_T said, Polo Blue Motion is a good day. I do around 120 miles a day to work in a 1.2 Polo, and then use my S3 for everything else :)
Also means I enjoy driving the S3 more when I do.

Screw the economy! get an RS6 and crap all over it :)
