It does kinda look exactly like I expected... an 8V without it's roof!
This article states 2015 release, but it seems the US gets the new A3 after the rest of Europe anyway, so it might not be that far off release over here. They can't confirm these are official photos, so they could be renderings still, but I'd put money on that being pretty accurate.
