Turbo actuator question

Hi,

Im wondering if the actuator below my turbo ('96 1.9 1Z) is seized or is it possible to move it by hand. Ive tried the output tests in VAGCOM but cant seem to find out if it moves or not. I basically have no boost and get overtaken by lorrys on motorway hills lol.

Any one any clue what I need to fix it.

00575 - Intake Manifold Pressure
17-10 - Control Difference - Intermittent

Cheers

Would anyone mind giving me a starting point in trying to fix this.

Cheers

1Z has a wastegated turbo, so no vanes.

The arm should move by hand, but the actuator spring might be pretty hard to overcome.

You can always disconnect the actuator rod and check the arm moves?

Thanks Aragorn, If I can get to it Ill try and give that a go.

when your driving it under load is there any smoke? have you checked all the boost hoses? look for a vacuum leak as well

Cheers JBH, Since the loss of power I dont get any smoke, it barely revs past 3k, and the only error codes are the ones in my first post. It hasnt happened for a few weeks now, but when I do get boost there's loads of smoke and the car goes like a rocket! All my hoses returning from the IC have oil around the joints, however I pulled off the turbo intake hose from the filter and noticed the fins of the turbo are covered in oil, is this normal (for an engine this old) or is the turbo knackered!

Cheers for replying guys
