S3 Build/Delivery Dates

I spoke to my dealer salesman this morning and he still has no build date for me. He says the order has 'yet to be accepted' and until that happens, I won't get a date. Annoying since I placed my order on 26 June and I know others on here placed their orders later and have build dates. I know its all down to dealer allocations etc but it doesn't help.

I feel really sorry for you, I ordered mine in early/mid June and its been built and dealer has it for me to collect hopefully Wednesday.

How they can be that far apart on deliverys I have no idea. It's bad really.

Just one other thing about estoril blue is that it is a 'crystal' effect paint.
I have panther black crystal effect paint on my TTS.
On a dull day it looks like any old plain black, but when the sun comes out the transformation is dramatic.
The sheer amount of fleck and colour sparkle is terrific ...

I ordered in early June and took 10 days to get my build wk of 43, I would defo expect a build date by now though!?

Nice! - hint of purple in there!? I had the same with Phantom black and expect the same with Misano red, but does look the biz.

Yeah I'd love to see a close up pic of misano red pearl in the sun

This SB doesn't have the chrome trim around the windows, can you choose to have the chrome trim or not? I'm going for a SB with roof rails and have been pondering if chrome roof rails (on a phantom black car), with chrome window trim would be too much bling!

Yes you can choose black styling pack which removes chrome trim around windows but also gives you black grill

But this car has the chrome grill, which doesn't fit with being a black styling pack car. Would like to see more pictures of phantom black 8V S3. Have the 8P S3 in this colour and finding it hard to go with another colour as I like it so much.

In Belgium we have the non-chrome window surround by default with the payable option of adding chrome surrounds. The blackened grill is a separate option. So, it depends on the country.

I don't think you guys have much to complain about regarding delivery times!
I loved the new S3 saloon right from when it first appeared as a concept back in March 2012.
I kept a close watch on its progress and in fact place a preliminary order for one in September 2013 when the first cars were tested by the press in Monaco and written about in car mags, to make sure my official order was one of the very first. I kept my eye on the Audi website so that on the very day the prices appeared at the end of November 2013 I was able to make an official order - a glacier white one with DSG box.

I changed the order slightly in February 2014 when I noticed that rear parking sensors were not standard, and was assured then that the delivery date would not be affected as my car was still a Status 10, so I actually included the Comfort Pack.

Every week I chased news of when my car would be built/delivered and finally I got news in the second half of February that the build date for my car would be week 34 with delivery in September! I have noticed that my local dealer has already had several cars through including 2 given to them on launch day towards the end of March then another delivered 1st April with more arriving in May. Trouble is my car is not ordered locally and the dealer through whom it is ordered cannot really explain why my car is so far down the queue, just quoting "allocations" as the reason. I've tried going through Audi customer services but they are unable to help as they have nothing to do with Audi Sales... I've objected as much as I can at having to wait 10 months for my car but have now accepted that I'll just have to live with it. A believable explanation would however have been nice.

I've ordered a white one anyway but I notice that if you try to configure one on Audi's website the "colour" choice is unimaginative to say the least: 3 blacks, 2 greys, 2 whites, 1 silver a brown and 2 reds. No blues (there was Estoril blue in the first brochure dated October 2013 but not in the latest one). At least Audi don't have the effrontery to call it a "Colour Chart", just "Paint"..

Hey Carnut,

Great choice on the S3 Saloon. If my wife didn't hate saloons, it would have been on my list. I feel for you on delivery times, I actually jumped ship and ordered a Merc GLA... What can I say, the wife liked it more than a Q3...

Now before I get flamed the only reason I mention this is that I ordered the car on March 31st and just got a build date of 7th May with estimated delivery/collection on May 21st/24th. I was all set for an Audi rivalling wait, but unless Mercedes Benz have lied massively, 8 weeks from order to delivery on a factory order is impressive.

This is all subject to them coming through on the dates, but it's made me wonder about how much build capacity Audi UK actually get from Audi AG...

All the best, MxNRG.

A5 is gone :( Will have to fix my SIG...

Thanks mxnrg

I didn't give my wife any say!
My last car was a VW Eos 2.0 TFSI which she complained about endlessly because it was too small.
I followed that with my current car, an A5 Coupe 2.0 TFSI (same engine as yours but 2WD) and the first thing she asked was why I needed such a big car!
So this time no discussion.
The wait is a pain but half the fun of anything is looking forward to it..!

Wow Carnut 10 months is some wait, I did 8 and half thought that was gonna be a record.
Like you contacted Audi CS, down to dealer allocations. Dealer Bull****

If I was doing it again I'd pull the deposit and go elsewhere if I'd known several months in advance.

What galls me is that I see others being delivered already whilst the car I ordered on the very day Audi started to take orders isn't due until September.. Audi don't really care otherwise they would do something about the ****-up someone has made and bring the build-date forward. In fact Audi has my order as being made only on 10th February (the date I changed it slightly) and no-one can find any record of an earlier order having been made - despite the fact I've sent them copies of all emails and the fact I was given my Order Number before that date!!

Trouble is, there is no car I would rather have so I'll wait; I believe it will be well worth the wait in the end.

Understand decision to wait and at end of the day it's not the end of the world waiting, don't think you will be disappointed.

However like you I think there is a real issue with Audi's customer care. They profess to listen to our (customer) views and go through all sorts of glitzy, we listen, have flash showrooms, offer nice coffee, 'have a nice day' type hype. Order a car from e.g. their sister VW group you're much more likely to get an accurate delivery date and get regular updates on progress from factory to delivery, with online progress logging etc.

Don't know if anyone from Audi every reads Audi Sport Net, but if you do, WAKE UP, you want to be a premium car brand get ahead of the competition on customer service, don't tell us you care about it - show us.

2 months ago that would have been a rant, I now call it a considered opinion!

Thanks ecosphere.
Someone in the car industry interested in either cars or customers?
You are joking of course?!

LOL, you're probably right I live in hope for higher standards. Failing that they need to realise poor service will hit their bottom line, people will buy other brands, we have already passed on buying another audi and gone elsewhere.

How can you have ordered in June - I assume you have access to a Time Machine or you mean June last year, which I make a year to delivery. Pretty poor show if you ask me... mine's in build now, hoping to have it in a few weeks time.
