Hi
I am thinking of lowering my a3 and iv found a set of just springs 60mm drop would I have to upgrade my shocks or could they cope with a 60mm drop. If I need to fit different shocks what ones would be best to use. Or should I buyback complete set as I'm on sleight budget atm
Cheers Nick

Unless they are new I would recommend replacing your worn and tired dampers. I dropped mine on 30mm Apex springs and the ride was atrocious until I fitted decent dampers.

Coilovers would be a better option as the dampers and springs are matched (debatable tho), plus, in their lower settings there is less preload on the springs so makes for a more complient ride, seeing as you want 60mm drop, they should fit the bill perfectly. Plus there are some cheap options too, cheaper than spring and shock combos

So you think I should go with coilovers instead as they are a all in package. I found them fk street coilovers on ebay also another set on ebay for like 155 few cheap sets on there would you recommend a set that's not to harsh

i had an a3 slammed on coilies and the ride was perfectly acceptable .. no harshness at all even with the 18s that were fitted. I cant say which make they were though which can make all the difference (probably cheaper ones).

The ones on my s3 are rock solid and almost too much at times, especially on uneven road surfaces.. its not so much the harshness, more like the car follows the undulations in the road as opposed to soaking them up (can make you bounce in your seat a bit when pressing on)

I'm going to have to try find them cheaper ones I don't want ones that a're rock solid my old corsa b was bad enough. Okay thank you I will have a look what I can find
