As long as the bush size is the same it doesn't matter.

S3 or A3?

You want to get another matching smaller wishbone and get rid of the larger one.

I don't think you can purchase it from Audi/TPS though as they were recalled and replaced with the larger ones- they will try and fob you off and sell you a matching set.

Best bet would be buy just 1 wishbone with the smaller bush.

The smaller bush ones are like rocky horse ****. I didnt reailse I had a set until I removed them. Sold them for over £200.

Goto the tt forum, theirs a guy that sells insert to replicate the original smaller.wishbones.

How come the smaller bushed wishbone is the one to go for and why did audi replace it with a larger one on the later cars?

I have a pair of wishbones from my LCR for sale. They do need re bushing.

"The control arm change introduced understeer to the cars handling, as it makes the handling of the car more "muted" and safer for non-skilled drivers. DEFCON bushings convert your current MK2 arms, allowing them to accept bushes designed for the model year (MY) 1999-2000 TT in the front position of the front control arms of MY 2001-2006 TTs. The change induced in the car’s handling with DEFCONs installed is significant: Faster turn in, a huge reduction of understeer, and much more communicative steering feedback."

When I bought my S3 it has the Mk1 small bush wishbones, but I changed all bushes and the wishbones to the newer ones the day after picking it up so I can't compare them as I only did a motorway trip drive home.

I still have the pair of MK1 wishbones, use one of them as a doorstop, an apparently rare doorstop, lol
