Are you fitting yourself?
what happened to your engine? dropped valve?
Most vag 1.8t will fit your car.

You will pay around £1000 for a decent low mileage bam engine , that's the going rate .........

i may have missed it but what's actually wrong with yours?

Sean

Doesnt have to be a bam you know.

any transverse 1.8t, as long as you retain features such as egt, vvt, wideband.

Some people think that bams are something special, no idea why

It has vvt, you wont drop to 210 though its just a map in the ecu that determines that on bam/amk and you have a bam ecu so sorted :)

Ahaaa I see so I could drop in an AMK and it will jus as new

You can get absolutely ANY transverse 1.8t you want.
whether you find a complete engine i.e. Turbo, intake, alternator etc etc etc, or just a bare engine i.e. Top and bottom end, it really doesnt matter, as everything from your current engine is transferable.

VvT Just requires that unit to be swapped, no head removal.

In an ideal world an engine from ANY 210 or 225 car will be perfect. Other 150/180 varients have ever so slightly different internals, very minor tho, nothing that would cause problems.

The ideal engine imo is an AGU, all you would need for that is to transfer vvt. That engine offers the best of ALL 1.8ts, largeport, 20mm wrist pins, 9.5:1 pistons.

Cheers Karl gives me more options then and larger port is on inlet so will need the larger inlet gasket

with keeping your original bam inlet, no, you dont need that at all.

whats the situation with the whole thing? you say you need fast turn around. are you doimg the swap, or a mechanic?
either way, with the correct tools to hand, and a couple of mates on board, its not going to be long if you can get an engine asap.

Post links and questions in here, plenty of people can say yay or nay and tell you what needs doing for the swap.

Mechanic coz car stuck in the garage now went in for head gasket failure now needs engine lol as soon as got engine to go in it will be bk on road

Been offered a amk engine with a app head for 600 with a bam head thrown in as well was built a year ago and had belts etc changed 6month ago what u guys think?

I had a brief look on ebay only yesterday and circa 500 seems about right.
I don't know what a APP is (typo?), but if it comes with another head, and has had some documented work done, than that sounds good to me.
Find out as much as you can, who was it built by? what sort of knowledge/background do they have? what things were renewed? receipts? etc etc

He said app is a TT engine will double check that with him lol

Jus bottom end was rebuilt coz it had bottom end failure I'm skeptical lol

my advice mate is if your on time constraints as you said.
Look for engine you can hear and see running.
Your taking a gamble on any engine you cannot see or hear running, no matter what a company says to you.
That why you go see a car before you buy it.

Lol I seen my s3 before I bought it but thats not ended well lol

Jus gonna keep a look out for a breaker of reasonable price

Lol I seen my s3 before I bought it but thats not ended well lol

yeh unfortunately these things happen, what is your quote from mechanic as there was a company in Nottingham near me doing a bam engine supplied fitted and 12 month warranty for £1400 all in....... Or with recon turbo for £1900 all in my mate has just had it done on his cupra r that blew up thanks to oil dry up ! Pickup failure scenario ect.....
I didn't think that above was a rip off price seemed quite fair to me, as I dnt reckon I could fit an engine myself.

Sean

If they can do jus the engine delivered to me for less then that I would be interested give me a pm if u can cheers
