Believe it or not mate some of us have seen over 40mpg from a 1.8T on a decent run!
my old 230bhp daily driver averaged 39mpg on a trip to the Ring a few years back, and my 350bhp track car still averages 35mpg cruising to or from a trackday!
Fantastically efficient engines the 1.8T's when tuned well
I do a 235mile trip to get home from camp, and it costs about £42 in petrol, that's with 4/5 lads in the car and a boot full of kit, i also have a heavy foot so I reckon that's decent enough (got an a3T)
Im averaging 37 all the time and thats all short journeys 7 miles usually twice a day and then a 22 mile round trip to the nearest town when I need something.
Me too. ~25-26mpg, mixture of very short journeys and longer motorway missions. I'm sure it'd go down if I was driving like a grandad or did longer journeys. I don't know how people are reporting 40+mpg. Nobody I know with a 1.8T of any sort is getting that :/
I do stick it in 5th as soon as i hit 30mph, i drive like a grandad most of the time as i do 60 miles a day to work and back, my foot only turns to lead when im bored or a nipper thinks he can push me around
I'm genuinely interested in how people get these figures! I never got 40+ on my A3 TQS, nowhere near that with my S3. Other mates with Mk4 Golfs, A3 1.8Ts and even a NA 1.8 A3 aren't getting that.
