Dropped off the car at the bodyshop thismorning.

Been putting it off since I purchased the car last year and ended up spending money on other parts for the car.

Its gone to a reputable bloke not too far from where I live - a few of the lads into cars close to home have work done by him and its spot on.

Its gone in for a front bumper spray, front wings, rear bumper re-spray along with the sideskirts along with all carpark-dings pulled.
It was just generally untidy with little scratches and scrapes everywhere, which has put me off waxing the thing as often as I should. (my previous cars got waxed almost fortnightly)

Looking forward to getting it back already, iv hired a car for a few days for work - an automatic Corsa which im bored of already.

Will post up some pictures when shes back, heres a "before";

Quoted £400 - which I don't think is too bad.

Been ripped off by other bodyshops in the past - namely £900 for a side spray on my yellow Ibiza Cupra - the sideskirt wasn't removed so the paint cracked after 6 months.

That sounds a fair price.

Already rattle canned my front wings and bumper (not perfect) but the rear arches and bumper need doing to. It's had all four corners sprayed in the past (didn't notice on purchase) but not very well (hence my attempt) but now noticed orange peel effect all down the drivers side doors. Made start on all the stone chips and scratches with laquer added touch up paint. Giving it a few days to harden then going to set about wet sanding all the touch ups and dong the whole car with a machine polisher.

If it doesn't come out any good, the only option will be a full respray below the window line. Based on your quote, I reckon it'd be at least £1200...it'd be cheaper to see a shrink about my OCD

Fair play to you, I did contemplate buying a compressor and some spray equipment a few months back but given the car is in such good condition I didn't want to mess anything up.

There was a bloke at a car show last month who sprayed his bonnet with rattle-cans, wetsanded and polished - looked really good!
You can get good results with rattle cans but you need to know what your doing!

sounds like a good price, I had mine in the body shop for rust on front wing, rust on rear quarter, rust on roof gutter, rear bumber painted and it cost me just under £800.

If I had a workshop, I would've got a compressor and all the gubbins. Instead, I covered my shed in plastic and got busy with my right arm :whistle2:. I had laquer peeling off from what was obviously a quick repair job, probably by the finance company who sold the car to the dealer I bought from (indy). I was fairly pleased with the results but burnt through the laquer with the polisher on a couple of edges...doh! I was using 1k laquer as it's half the price for twice the amount of 2k. If i was to do it again, I'd build up the 1k then finish off with a 2k layer. The panels are slightly darker than the adjoining doors but it's not obvious, being dark, pearlescent blue. Hopefully, when I run the polisher over the whole car the gloss will minimize the tonal difference. I read that silver is the hardest colour to match so don't think I would've attempted it with your car, Alex, especially as yours is just the usual wear and tear.

Mike

I reckon yours cost relatively more due to it all being rust repair...much more prep work, I guess.

got mine done last month or so

Bonnet
Both wings
Door lowers
Sills

Cost me £68 for 2 new wings and then £60 for paint / Laqure / Hardner / Thinners / Primer

You must have some nice friends or your own paint shop!?!?

Alex can you pm me the bodyshops number that's doing it for you mate and let me know how the work turns out this is all I need doing to mine now on the exterior ****** high kerbs and votex front ends don't like each other. And stop having work done on the beast last time it cost me £550 for a full s/s exhaust at bcs haha

Will do!

Collecting tonight..... cannot wait!
I had to drive the corsa 4 hours yesterday - it broke me.

What were the results like Alex? If I get through my MOT unscathed next week I need to get my wings replaced so might have a front-end respray too. If you would recommend them I wouldn't mind a PM with their contact details pal. Cheers
