Hi guys,

Tempted to do an oil and filter change on my car. Been looking at prices for oil and I'm sticking to Castrol. National are offering oil and filter change for £40.40 using Castrol 5w30. Are they trustable? Just getting the oil and filter is significantly more expensive than this so I'm thinking it may be worth a punt?

Not much can go wrong with the oil change tbh.
Go for it if you're happy with the price.

i used to be a manager oh National tyres, and you will recieve 5w30 Edge oil! really good guys tbh in every branch i went to... where are you based in essex?

Price looks very good + it includes the filter. Go for it.............

My mate is the manager on my local national tyres and I always get my oil and filter changed there have done for years. And they use castrol edge FST 5w30 I've seen the drums in the back myself. Do it mate you won't be disappointed for that price.

Wicked thanks for the feedback guys, gonna book it in tomorrow. Can't believe the price, it's fantastic! Barnzy I'm based in Billericay, what is the best one near there?

I'll book it in and report back once it's done. So much better than the stealers price!

I've used National Tyre & Autocare in Cardiff for years and they've always been great.

Upon reading the voucher in detail it seems this is 10% off the price quoted as a walk in to the garage. To get the £40.40 price you have to pay online.

Feel like a part of me has just died!

i took my car there (in york) last year, halfway through the 20k long life oil service, cant go wrong at that price, i used the 10% discount voucher and put the discount saved into the companys x-mas fund collection which went down well. :arco:

Been into my local National Autocare centre and had an oil change today..

They say it is Castrol Edge 5W30 and I have no reason to not believe them..

Only thing I will say, is watch the paperwork !!

The reason I had it done is that have only just bought the car and the 3rd Party warranty (not Audi) states that I have to have an oil and filter change every 6 months or 6k miles.
To make it difficult, they also say that the invoice has to state my name, address, Reg num, mileage, and have labour and parts itemised separately, and have a registered VAT number on it.

Herein lies the problem with National if you book on line..

For a start, your booking confirmation page on the Internet is actually your invoice, but guess what, no name or address, no reg number, no mileage, no individually listed parts (just says Oil and filter) but it does have Vat number.

I discussed this with the geezer in National and he did print off an advice note which had my name, address of National Web site Sales (why?), reg number, mileage, but no VAT number, or Pricing information. He said that is the best he could do as I booked it online.

So, it would seem that the paperwork maybe borderline as to whether it will count towards the Warranty that I have..

If you are thinking of using National for a similar reason as me, please just bear this mind.

Other than that, fairly efficient service, I watched the job being done, deffo new filter, but OIl was from a giant jug, could of been anything !!
