Best Cutting Compound for Audi Paint?

Hi Chris,

I'm using the same combination. I no expert but managed to go from this

to this on my bonnet recently.

Are you giving the compound time to breakdown and do its work? I needed to use quite a lot of pressure and kept going until the compound has almost vanished, just a light haze remained.

Although these are only swirl marks and not scratches. But if i had a scratch, i would work on that area for longer.

Hope that helps?

As above polishes need to break down to work but only thing I would suggest is that it takes a long time with a DA polisher, rotaries are better suited to hard paints like Audi.
Menzerna polishes are excellent on harder paints too though if you fancy giving that a try first.

Just did my M3 with Megs DA and microfibre system. Worked well tbh. I also did my X5 yesterday (albeit it only had light swirls) with All in One (AIO) Britemax. This was applied with the same microfibre polishing pads and the results were really good. I will be using AIO Britemax alot more from now on.

Thanks guys - used amasons advice and used a little bit more pressure, this seemed to improve things but to not as much as I would like.

ajax - thanks for the advice, are the hex-logic pads fine? or will i change these too? im not wanting total correction but just the majority of swirls and holograms to be removed.

Chris,

pop over to Machine Polishing - Detailing World

Lots of info there.
