Hi there this is my first post on here ive been around on passionford, briskoda scoobynet and now here. Ive recently bought a 2002 audi s3 as my impreza headgasket went and thought id cut my losses and sell up.Ive always had a soft spot for these since my mate had a yellow ihi'd one. So I sold my scooby and started looking and knew I wanted a red or blue one, I originally saw a red prefacelift and rang the guy up but someone was coming to view the car that evening but he said ill let uknow either way which he did the car had sold.So started looking again they was a blue one not too far away but had abit of damage here and there which could be sorted but the money they was asking was abit high in my opinion, anyway my other half has her own tyre and mot centre was her dads but shes taken over she was looking for me on ebay when a guy came in had a puncure repair done, he came in the office to pay and she had the laptop on with a s3 on. he said whos after a s3? kelly replies my chap to his responce rkids selling one so she took his number and that night we set off for the 5 minute drive round the village.pulls up outside the house, and its sat there gleaming red with black standard s3 wheels. had a good look round and theres one little dint on rear arch from a car door apart from that its mint, opened car door to half heated leather and suede seats and a 6 cd double din abit differant from a s reg sti impreza lolStarted it up 116k with full history had a good look round opened the boot to find 2 drop links and a new timing belt and water pump to be fitted included in the sale.im over the moon with the car, and the colour seemed abit weird to my red octavia vrs i had so looked in the boot and its a Misano red is the car a rare colour it seems it on here?

Theres lots of members your way. Im off to see one today actually lol.

Misano is AWESOME and very rare. Id seen the colour in pictures but when i was buying there wasnt one for sale for months. Absolute red is the red you often see.

I look forward to the pics. Welcome to the money pit

A car is only worth what someone will pay for it at the end of the day....

I think Misano red was a factory optional extra from after 2001....which is why they are so rare- as they would have only had a couple of years making them until they stopped production....and it was not an optional 'standard' color as far as I'm aware.

So yes- it could possibly be worth more...but only to the people who enjoy the color red on an S3 :)

Obviously other things like optional extras, FSH, and condition of the vehicle all play a heavy part when selling or valuing any second hand car.

So hurry up and get some pics up....and welcome to the money pit - have a read through some build thread on here to get some inspiration and check the stickies for the most asked questions.

As superkarl said, welcome to the 'money pit'. :)

Pictures please ...

So your not far from me mate, im from barnsley :).

I waited for aaaages for a Misano Red one when searching for my second S3 but in the end I gave up and went for a noggy. Misano is a much deeper red (pearlescent) and doesn't look as "orangey" as the standard colour, Absolute Red.

There's a funny smiley that says "this thread is useless without pics" - I can't find it so get some pics up!

i'll defo get some pictures up I didnt know the colour was rare the guy never said anything but its in the boot sticker and when you look at it it looks metalic weird to explain. so are the seats extras with been half leather and heated then or not and is it a good buy if I said i paid under 3k for it 116k fsh it also has alloy mirrors de cat forge valve, tip drilled grove discs all round

Sounds good, definaly need pitures though!

Half leather seats aren't extra's but the heated seats were, great extra couldn't be without mine.

The leather and suede was a 'no-cost' option. Colours available were black leather and blue suede, black leather and yellow, and black leather and cream suede.

Red S3's, regardless of shade, are better than any s3's that are not red. This is fact.
