Finally got my **** round to buying an mp3 solution for my navi-plus.
I went with the Dension Ice link in the end. I spent so much time deciding on either the phatbox or the dension, only to decide neither were perfect. The fact that the gf can use iTunes won the battle instead.
Fitting the thing was a doddle on reflection, although i wasnt too much looking forward to removing the glovebox, and umm'd and aah'd about removing the airbag disable switch to get more room to work in (i didn't in the end).
one of the hardest parts in the installation was using the radio removal keys... till i realised i had them round the wrong way... then at the end when i refitted the HU, they wouldnt come back out again, meaning i had to remove the HU, remove the keys, then refit the HU again...
After the rest of the car was put together, battery reconnected and ipod filled with music, it worked a treat!!!

Proclip Audi A3 00-02 Angled mount (652857) - mounts on the climate control panel for double-din setups
Harness: ice>Link to VAG 20 pin mini ISO - works for RNS-D CD Based NaviPlus setups - Blaupunkt mini-iso wouldn't have worked as it a long block connector, not a 3-part mini-iso.
these are the only two parts that are required to be AUDI specific, and you can buy whatever cradle and PCB you can lay your hands on, as the PCB can be recofigured for any car or headunit.
