Ive used this oil in my car.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004RCNOCS/?tag=hydra0b-21&hvadid=9550946349&ref=asc_df_B004RCNOCS
Its quality 'thick' oil, bought for the main reason to - 'quieten my noisy engine', made for high mileage engines over 2L etc

Id say my engine is now MORE noisy! Especially on first start up / revving on the spot. It sounds awful!
So much so I wondered if I was going to home last night!?

There is also a single ticking noise that goes with the revs? thats louder now than before?

Is this coincedence or is this oil BAD for my car and I should pull it out ASAP?

Cheers!

Pull it out - now.
You need 5-30 / 5-40 (The latter more preferable)

We have had loads of oil threads over the past month!

The book says 5w-30. Being thinner would this get around parts quicker from start us to reduce engine noise?

Being thicker means it will be harder and longer to get around engine parts!

I went by the book and put in 5W-30. Opie Oils recommended this one.
Car Engine Oils | Products | Mobil 1™ ESP Formula 5W-30

My car started better.
Started quieter.
Less vibration on acceleration.
Smoother acceleration.
Regained full performance.
On first 'boot' a large cloud of soot was seen out back, but not again?
Anyway I and seemingly my car are much happier with this oil..
Cheers Rob!

That's the only oil I've seen that's still readily available that has the correct spec of 506.00 and 506.01 that our engine requires according to the owners manual....
