Had an early finish today and thought I'd have a look at the steering u joint so took the foot rest cover off and had a look and wiggle the steering wheel as its got play, u/jnt seems fine but where it connects to the rack I think is where the play is as the is movement there without the wheels turning so I think I need a new rack.

then secondly I moved the Matt looking for a tool I couldn't find only to feel the the footwell is wet? Can't seem to find where it's getting in, as of yet I have pulled the carpet back yet to investigate further. Only drivers side is wet, I also think I may have a boost leak somewhere also,

there is a rubber bush/seal on the top side of the steering rack just below the u joint that could have split or persished?

it will give very minor slack in the steering and could let water through if its badly perished

This is the view of the rubber it looks in good condition so doubt water is getting through it

I tightened that bolt up a little earlier and pushed it down a faction onto the rack shaft, now it feels a lot worse ( constant left pull ) is it best just to get a new rack and get someone to fit,

any ideas about wet drivers foot well also?

Is it possible to undo the u/joint and turn it anti clockwise one or two teeth to see if that would cure my on going left pull/ drift.

i have tomorrow off so will look at this wet floor also
