DPF Removal pros & cons

My 07 3.0 TDi's been remapped already.

Looked in the boot and according to the label it DOES have a DPF, no problems whatsoever so far.

So questions are:

1) Will I need to get it remapped again once DPF is removed
2) What are the disadvantages?
3) Advantages?
4) Has anyone had it done & what did you pay?

And finally I do appreciate the saying... 'if it ain't broke...:unsure:
 
1. Yes you will
2. Possibility of a little smoke now and then, how much depends on the map.
3. Increased Reliability, Power, Economy.
4. Prices vary depending on competency of the company. We are in Manchester and a specialist and charge £500 drive in drive out for everything, guaranteed with after sales care.

3) Is an Alientech eco remap that currently has seen me do 55MPG+ and 950 miles on a tank
4) Anything from anyone else?

Dunno, read a post where NO DPF is designated by a certain code on a sticker inside the boot, mine doesn't hve that designation so am assuming so.:confused:
 
Mine is an 07 as well, with code 7GN (DPF preparation) on the spare wheel well sticker, and it does not have a DPF fitted... its just a little secondary cat near the passenger foot well (which I am contemplating having cut out).

For what its worth, I don't get any smoke (with a "power oriented" remap) unless I absolutely stomp on it. I would bet that with a "economy" map, there would be 3/5ths of sod-all smoke even at load, as the fuelling would be dialled way back.
 
Mine DOESN'T have 7GN on the boot sticker, which means it has a DPF.

An Eco Re-Map - Has it changed the Power delivery / characteristics of the Engine ? Has she still got the Grunt ?

Not that I've noticed, maybe a little hunting on the revs just below 2k

As to the grunt both of my previous cars were a little quicker (LPG'd dual remapped XK8 and supercharged MX5 18psi).

On the run that returned the 55MPG I was stopped by Mr Plod for doing XXX MPH that rsulted in my first 6 points in 30yrs of driving :ohmy:

So fitted a performance exhaust so I can 'hear my speed' better...but the cars so darned well insulated only those outside can appreciate it :huh:

Am wondering if DPF removal/Auto-RX/Terraclean can see me hit close to 60MPG :salute:
 
I would wager you will see a healthy increase in MPG if you do get it removed, as they really do bung up the airflow.
 
Yep most probs the same as a Cat on a petrol car, removed them from my XK8 (not needed as LPG) and saw a 4MPG increase straight away...more power too :)
