Just been to see a S3

Hi People

Just been to see a S3 - see here for more details http://www.snippersgate.co.uk/GetDealer.do?did=11530&pageid=2

Anyway it looks good, a few marks here and there and a bit high on the miles for my liking but its going to set the standard for the rest that will follow.

The car as you will see from the advert it has a Miltek exhaust, race cats and a Star Performce chip with a switchable control unit. Has anyone had any experience of this company? The car was originally bought from an Audi dealer in Glasgow and from memory Star Performance are in Scotland (Kirkaldy)

It has a private plate - K19 SPG anyone know anyhting about this car?

mileage is fair, and so is the price.

can only tell it has the aluminium mirrors and the BOSE option from the description, any more details?

might be an error, but this records the car for that plate as a Toyota Supra.

every other car i have tried the webpage on for known plates has been correct.

Certaily worth doing a HPI if you intend to buy.

As for star they are well regarded and used to be an agent for Apr, i think they do their own tuning now

I cant comment on the Audi dealer in Glasgow, try the dealer section in the forum. I can give an opinion on Star Performance though. I have taken my car out of the Audi network and have my car serviced by SP now. Found them very professional, dilligent and well informed on Audi/VW/SEAT. Well equipped workshop, all enthusiasts too. Jim has a 500+ hp RS4... His son has a 200hp Fabia VRs. Recommeded.

Alcantara as you will have seen, Headunit was strange, it had a slot for a USB cable and a SD memory card, so I assume it was not a standard Audi fit unit. It wasn't the usual sony/pioneer etc, it was H&R I think.....?

It didn't have cruise control, there wasn't an additional stalk below the indicator stalk. I really only went for a look-see and didn't pick over it too much as i'm willing to hold out for the very best model. I'm keen to got one with a chip already fitted and now that you guys have given Star Performance the thumbs up that gives me a little confidence.

Having the Miltek exhaust, sport cats and Eibach dampers & springs is also a bonus /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jim has an S3. The RS4 is a customer's car. Very highly reccommended though - excellent service and knowledge. They a lot of work on my S3 and S4.
 
David, at the risk of making an RS of myself again, after being at SP this week, I believe that Jim is selling his S3, and the brakes that were on it are now on another Aberdeen based S3.... He got a service, Brembo's and a remap along with a whistling noise in the wallet department. Went home happy though.

I didn't know that the RS4 was a customers.. its been there every time I have had my car there...is it kept there as a pet?

Cruise on the A3/S3 is integrated into the indicator stalk, it doesn't have a extra stalk like the A4. If there is a thumb slider on the front of the indicator stalk facing the driver then it has cruise.

I see (said the blind man) i just assumed that it was the same as the A4 I was driving when i was in Austria.

i will have to make a list of things to look for that were options. If anyone want to add to the list please do so

arm rest - fitted
silver morrors - fitted
bose - fitted

anymore?
 
Also remember that you can retrofit the Cruise control and armrest option fairly cheaply...
 
one thing i was going to ask, the front brake calipers on the S3, are they just single piston jobs? they looked like it to me.
