hi

will start post as so many do buy saying that they have been searching
and cant find what they are looking for, I REALLY CANT FIND WHAT IM LOOKING FOR!

i am trying to find the part numbers for the 3dr s3 side skirts, i can find lots for the sportback but none for the 3dr

the only reason is that, i have phoned tps for a quote and im sure they are quoting me wrong, i would rather just give them the part numbers knowing i am ordering the right parts

hope some one can help

cheers

Why do you think they're quoting you wrong?

well it may be me but as i see it, to fit 3dr side skirts you need to remove some trim parts (my car is an se) the trim on the lower rear quarter and the insert on the near to the bottom of the front wing, so the skirt fits in and the front cap fits,

they are saying that the front cap is about £7.50 (the pic on etcka (sorry for spelling) looks like the part i take off.
they also so say i need the rear quarter trims as well

i thought that there was 4 parts each side

long side skirt
front skirt cap
lower door trim
and scuff trim in the door shut
and 1 or 20 clips

Can somebody help me - what is a Scuff plate? Can you post pictures?

If it's the plate when you open the door which says "S3", then I guess I don't need it because I already have S-line plate. Or do I still need it?

Are all these above parts needed for the S3 side skirts? Or just the sills??

Yeah, there are even some screws and bolts that are needed beyond that list. I will post as soon as I got them.

Also, one thing that's bugging me - there are no bolts in ETKA for the lower part of the side skirts, and each side skirt has 9 holes on the bottom side...

How did you attach it to the chassis?

Isn't the tiger seal too strong? What if I need to take it off after some time, without damaging the skirt?

I would prefer some kind of mechanical nut/bolt type of solution...

I don't think a mechanical nut/bolt is an option mate. I assume you are talking about fixing the skirt on the underside to the car? An S3 has the facility to fix the bolts but an A3 doesn't so Tiger seal is what I used.

Yeah, I mean the underside of the car.

Well, one could drill holes and fix the skirts with screws?

And if I decide to tiger seal, should I try to make it waterproof - eg, not to allow water to enter into the skirt?

Drilling the underside of the car wouldn't be the best way to go in my opinion. As I say I used the clips under the sills and the adhesive on the back of the skirt, then I put a small amount of tiger seal at each fixing point on the underside and its solid. Why do you want to be able to take them of? Is it to return the car to standard when you sell it?

It's easier to paint them if the paint is for example scratched.
