S3 gone to a new home....

DJ - I'm in the west end and have black s3 on a private plate with OZ Superleggeras and the crappiest M3 mirrors you have ever seen! (must get round to fitting new mirrors!), Will keep an eye out for you. Like most people up here i've read pretty much all of Glen's articles on how your car got to be the way it is. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person!! I feel like i know the thing better than my own car! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

As for DavidR's car......i might be clutching at straws or reading a clue into something that isn't there, but what cars have a push button start?

350z? (although would that be too similar to te 200sx?)

Will also keep my eye open when up in Glasgow - I've seen the beast before /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah i will keep an eye out for you. I visit Glasgow quite a bit as my dad lives at Charring Cross (dunno how you spell it).

I normally leave my car at his office in the underground car park, so i may be in his V6 4 motion (black). Will give you a flash if i see you.

Push button start? Pah. Proper car's don't have these...

No, it's not a 350Z - awful things

No need...
A key works perfectly...

..and built using such high quality plastics! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Despite myself and David (and relevant other halves) drinking ourselves stupid last night (one of us to the point of unconsiousness...and it wasn't me!) we felt we were able to risk taking his new beast out onto the NEs finest frost covered back roads by lunchtime today.
Once a bacon sarnie was polished off, and the re-hydration process completed, I had the pleasure of a good few miles at the helm of his new steed.
What a beautiful machine...

Obviously, hurtling around frosty roads in a light, wide tyred, powerful, purposeful driving machine with a fearsome reputation for swapping ends, gave me a reason to focus the mind...but what a superb tool.

I very much look forward to a longer drive on warmer roads.

A true icon...with a well deserved reputation...
And it starts with a turn of a key! (Albeit very finely engineered and perfectly weighted key)

It's a 911 porkka then.

[/ QUOTE ]

Or an M3 CSL or Noble M12/400.....

All I can say is /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif ....

I think it must be a BMW i think being RWD and Glen saying "perfectly weighted key" and BMW sometimes go on about weight distribution.

Not sure if they have a fearsome reputation though??! Hmm maybe has to be a porsche then.

Cheers,
Paul.

Lets get it out in the open, this is a a3/s3 forum after all.

I saw one of these on the road for the first time last week, exactly like the one on TG, they do look pony I have to say. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

Luckily for the poor owner, it had all 4 wheels intact! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_2.gif

This is truly pathetic now /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleep.gif

Also, unless he has bought a a3/s3 this should be in the other marques forum

Yup.... very /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleep.gif indeed...... infact, it's taking so long that I've gone and purchased a new motor myself, it's a shiny Black example, turbocharged, 4WD 2+2 with the engine in the back. It has shiny 5 spoke alloys and a plastic interior, and a very good power to weight ratio.....
I'll post some pics when I can be bothered to take some /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

PS. i'm not kidding!, I seriously have bought one of these!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif

Oh dear, sorry to be so pathetic...

If you recheck the title post it comments on my S3's departure - which bit of my ex-S3 does not fit in the a3/s3 forum?

Nice to hear that dude!

it won't be an M3, I've not heard them having a reputation for swapping ends, and surely you wouldn't go from an S4 (ok then S3) to an M3...

can't be bonkers enought to have bought a TVR up in scotland, so come on david what is it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/noidea.gif

Porsche Turbo I'm thinking at the moment although it changes frequently!!!

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Wow, all kinds of suggestion...

The answer is, of course, a Porsche 911, in particular a metallic black 993 carrera 4 with a particularly nice selection of factory fit options and a fine history. Glass's guide list it as the slowest depreciating modern car (and in fact some are appreciating).

However, to discount a few others, M3 is a fine car, but is losing money hand over fist at the moment and is still rather "bling", TVRs are still poor to drive and if you could see how much salt, frost and ice are decorating our roads at the moment you'd understand why 4WD is a good option.

Incidentally, Porsche have an interesting view on 4WD... There is seemingly very little drive going to the front given the number of times the car has tried to turn me round under power... Very entertaining!

I was waiting to get some nice pictures but the weather here has been awful, so the car has mostly been brown from mud or white from salt... Soon though!
