View attachment 13292 010Hi all, new to this, got an A3 8l 1.9tdi, lowered on coilies with 16" wheels/stretched 40's low enough to scrape its sump guard consantly but still got gap in arches, any ideas? is there a steel sumpguard available? how much play between sump and guard?

Bigger wheels will fill the arches better.
Yeah i know but love the look of the 16's, i only lowered this a week ago, haven't had a look at the sump guard yet, it scrapes quite a lot!! just wondering if anyone knew is there much of gap between guard and actual sump? my thought was, if there is a gap get a steel guard made and get i down a little more??

There's barely a gap if anything. You can buy some sort of sump protector for them I think and you might be able to raise the engine slightly but don't hold me on that.

to raise the engine you 'could' have some 10mm thick plate under the gearbox to inner arch mount and engine to inner arch mount, drill the plate so the mount bolts will pass thro the plate and do that, the dogbone could be spaced alittle aswell so its not on a silly angle aswell, not the best way but would raise the engine 10mm, would allow you to go 10mm lover

Yo had heard about this, raising the engine, not sure if i want to go those lengths !! My son is into his JDM/Drift thing and has suggested the bolt on arches you see on some drifters, might get a set and see what this looks like, would fill the gap for sure, photos when i've done it!!

Shallow sump and engine raisers. Or even new engine mounts as the originals are bound to of sank over time. Then wind down a little

Went out and got down on the cold concrete earlier, sump guard hanging off, no wonder its been scraping !! Got about 50mm between guard and sump, decided im gonna make an ali one and mount it quite tight, should be able to wind down about another 30mm then, thanks for your help...Rob

Just out of interest what wheels are you running?

Hi, thanks for that link, just had a look at those dieselgeek skid plates, they look really good, simple as well, so simple i think i'll def have a go at making one up ! Cheers....Rob
