Hi all, this may have been asked many times but I'm new to this and can't find the answers anywhere!

I have a 2001 facelift A3 8L 110tdi and im about to make some changes to her. I have a set of JOMS waiting to go on and some genuine 18" RSTTs.

right now here is my query i want to fill the arches the best i can without scraping and atleast being able to have 1 or if I am lucky two people in the back haha! i'm going to lower around 40mm and im thinking of fitting 215/40/18 tyres for a slight stretch (unless advised not to?) and Im thinking about wheel spacers but i havent got a clue on what size to get :( would 15front 20rear be too much? and would i need to roll the arches?

can anyone help?

thanks

My genuine rstt wheels on my s3 have 15mm spacers all round and the front probably poke out a few mill that's with the flared arches so on a skinny a3 I guess 15mm spacers would be too much.. depends what look you are going for and how fat the tyres are..

I use 10mm front and 15mm rear with genuine RSTT's on my S3...

Hi S3clarke, its good to know what you running. how much wider are s3 arches? im thinking of having 215/40/18 tyres on for a slight stretch just tohelp with a possible scrapping problem haha! i just want the wheels to fill the arch tbh the (race car stance) even though she definatly isnt a race car :O

<tuffty/> if i ran 10mm front and 15mm rear on my a3 reckon it would fill the arch nicely. as il be running a slight stretch too

Dunno on an A3... easiest way to work it out is fit the wheels and measure from the rim to the edge of the arch and see what best fits...

S3 arches are wider than the A3... 10mm on the front pretty much fill the arches with 225/40/18's... the rears are a little more in and 'could' do with 20mm to wang them out to fill but I am not bothered by it personally as thats not the look I am going for... 15mm may be ok for an A3 though but like I said... measure :)

<tuffty/> yeh thats a great idea once i get the coilies and the wheels on il measure it up thanks pal! just need to wait for a bit of sunshine, defo not getting under the car in the snow :)

Yea I run 225/40's so might want a little more stretch as u say. My guess Is u might not need to space the front all that much (if at all) but I'd say space the back to fill the arches. Put some pictures up once u have, be good to see what it looks like.

s3clarke i will definatly get some before and after pics up on her once im done. may be a little while yet tho due to the snow and i have no where apart from my drive to get to work!

all done took me awhile to post a picture i forgot my log in details haha! il have more pics up in a little bit still need spacers though :(

Heres a few more, soo happy with it at the moment. iv gone a little lower then originally stated. The rear is maxed out im guessing around 70mm (well thats what it says for JOMS) and front maybe around 50-60mm. i have 3mm spacers on the front at the moment just so the wheel clears the spring. but im maybe looking to fit 8mm front and 15mm (may have to raise the rear a little) what do you guys think?
