Hand Wash Car washers!!!

Hi all

Well had my A3 Sline a week and thought i would give it a wash a one of those Hand car wash places....Never again T£*ts when i got back and checked the car the ****** pressure washer must be 300 bar with the spots of paint he took off here and there !! Off back tomorrow to kick off what good it will do i dont know,but at least i will feel better.
 
Agree with Dre, at least if you do it yourself you know what your getting.
Its a lot more satisfying as well.
Those places don't care about your pride and joy. :no:
 
I do not use those places unless it is the company car.
 
I was at one 2 weeks ago and someone turned up in an Aston Martin.
 
There's one I use regularly (for my works van) and there was a AMG 63 Black being washed, I was watching them wash the wheels then wash the body with the same sponge not even rinsing it out. I felt sick watching them do that.
 
Why do people use these places anymore? "We'll hand wash your car with a bag of rocks for a fiver". I seriously think you're better off using auto car washes.
 
I only ever used one of those places once when I had my old MK2 Leon. You sit in the car when they wash it.

When they finished I gave them the fiver and off I went, when I got home I saw they had cleaned the roof, front and sides of the car but LEFT the back! It was still covered in dust and mud.

I promised myself never again. As said you get a lot more satisfaction out of it too. And at least you know where your mitt has been.
 
I have always used these £3 car places, but only on my Silver cars. The busier ones use wash mitts and a separate sponge for the wheels. I'd never take my S3 there though, Black shows every minor blemish!
 
I use them all the time, my local one is pretty good.

2 washing machines going constantly with the sponges / rags / leathers and they use fresh each time.

They spent 20 minutes last week polishing my exhaust tips.
 
You might find the odd one that takes care, but 99% are your traditional rape'n'scrape. You hear horror stories about dropped sponges, and brick acid on your wheels etc. just head over to the detailing section, buy 2 buckets a wash mitt and a few products, and spare yourself the worry about what someone else might do to your paintwork!

Spot on! With the right products (and, no, you don't need that many), two buckets, and some basic technique, you can get pretty good results yourself, without damaging your pride and joy.
 
What do you expect? These sort that hang about car parks are the same that hassle you for the blasted Big Issue.
 
Never ever take your car to these places... They use cheap products, acidic wheel cleaners and generally don't know what they are doing.

Your better off spending the money on a decent detail.
 
Went to one other day only had my a3 for 2 weeks and now its full of little scratches. But can't say it was defiantly them I no Audi do have them all nice and polished when you pick them up and they might of hidden them put like most of you say properly was them and there grit riddled mitts! put me off wanting another nice phantom black again!
