Is it right that you get no service book with a new A3? (I just got a cardboard envelope type thing to keep service receipts in). Salesman claimed that all Audi Service records are now electronic & anyone you want to sell the car to can just call any Audi Centre and have the service record read out to them.

Oddly, the salesman made a big thing of going through the service book for my part-ex'd Golf and noting the date, mileage, service type & VW dealer that did the service for each service it'd had. Have never had that before, it has always just been a "Yes" to the full service history question and that was that.

I'd not be too happy about handing over service receipts when I come to get rid of the A3, as they will invariably have my address & contact details on - the latter is certainly information that any purchaser does not need (if I part-ex the car again).

I'm still waiting delivery of my car, so don't know the answer but this is a good point.

I think a number of manufacturers might be going over to electronic records but like yourself I would be concerned at handing over receipts with personal detail to somebody I didn't know and have no control over.

Will be interested to hear what happens in practice.

if its right
just get a service book and get it stamped as and when you have any work done.

I had a Mazda a few years back which had an electronic service book. Had no issues and they would send out a yearly 'record' in the post so you had something tangible to handover to a prospective buyer. No idea if audi do the same though...

My current car is a Mazda, the dealer can print off the service history if you want it

Yes from November 2012 all new Audi vehicles have the service history digitally recorded see the following for details.Digital service schedule < Owners area < Audi UK

Thats good. Presumably then if you like the comfort of a paper record they can give you a printout each time.

Of course the cynical amongst us (are there any lol) might say that this is just a ploy to make us get our servicing done through the Audi dealership as presumably non franchise service centres will not have access to the records. Not that I'm suggesting that being serviced through an Audi franchise is a bad thing, particularly when still under warranty.

i just picked up my sportsback, it got a service book.

its even better than ive imagined.. the old SB looked a bit odd if you ask me, this one looks more sporty and natural.. the interior is awesome, and the gadgets are pretty sweet. ACC , lane assist, xenons, phonebox, light assist, advanced key.. Im having a hard time learning everything =) oh, and the 1.4 122hp stronic had allot more power than i expected
