Hello,

I've not posted here in a long time but I've been doing a lot of searching around!! I've just bought an IHI VF34 with downpipe and manifold for my mk2 golf. I've been running a remapped 20vt in the car for 12 months now but I want a bit more!! I know this is the wrong section but there seems to be a lot of knowledge here. The missus has an A3 if that helps :p

Turbo kit

I'm hoping people can help me with a few questions?

Does anyone know what size oil feed and drain pipes I need, and does the supply need any kind of restrictor?

This kit looks like it has everything I should need once I've paid a visit to my local hydraulic pipe place:

Subaru EJ20 EJ25 IHI VF22 VF28 VF34 Turbo Install Kit | eBay

I'm planning on getting a set of genesis II 500cc injectors and some rifle drilled rods from USRT.

I'm currently looking for a suitable FMIC as the laguna diesel one I'm using atm prob isn't going to last long and only has 2" pipes. I've got a load of 2.25" pipe work kicking about so I'll prob use this for my boost piping.

Are ngk bkr7e plugs ok? Been advised so elsewhere!

Anymore info or input will be most appreciated :)

Thought I'd include a photo, no A3 I know but I think it's ok!!!!

Those cars have always had a special place in my heart :hubbahubba:

Cheers! I've owned it twice now  It's brilliant with the 20vt, even better once she's over 300hp!!!!!!

Woooo. The mk2's are invading haha. Nice motor. Same colour as mine😄

Yes! I'm not the only golf owner on the forum!

Lovely looking car! With 300 it will go like stink!

Cheers for the comments! Managed a few hours this weekend, nearly finished tucking all the wiring loom. Then it's engine out time

Mk2 golfs R wer i started iv owned 8 lol 1.3cl to GTI 16v's, 2.0 ABF but a 300bhp 20v would b sumthing else

I think I have an idea for my next project...............the misses is going to hate me :)

Mine nearly left me when i did the conversion from 8v to 20vt last winter!!!! Hoping to get a bit more time on it tomorrow. Does anyone know if the oil feed needs a restrictor??

looks like a fantastic project!

Keep the boost sensible with the IHI, and it'll be amazing.

BKR7E plugs are what I use on mine with similar output, and I'd definitely spend the extra and go 2.5'' on all your IC pipes, it's worth doing to make the most power from the least possible boost.

Look forward to seeing this progress :)

Cheers for the info, I've read/been told not to push the turbo (boost wise) too much! To be fair 300bhp in a mk2 is gonna be plenty I'm sure :racer: I've been pricing up some rifle drilled rods and 500cc genesis II injectors from usrt. Looking at about £600 all in from the states. Doesn't seem to bad to be fair.

Congrats Prawn as well, I love that shot of ur A3 chucking flames, makes me grin!

Apparently there's a bit of a delay with those injectors so I'd order sooner rather than later. I was on the phone to him yesterday about my tubular control arms. Really nice fella.

I've always loved a Mk2. With a 1.8T it'd be awesome.

Thanks for that, I'll email em tomorrow! The cars got a remapped 1.8t at the mo and its awesome I'm just power hungry!

Cheers! If I feel brave enough I might drill the jabbasport mani and fit and egt sensor. Can you supply an oil feed Bill, and would you be interested in mapping it?

Did a bit of work on the car today, managed to extend my engine management loom, just to check my idea will work, and it did :) I guess it's time to start pulling the engine out next.

I'm not sure if bill can map the agu ecus 😞 though I'm hoping I am wrong because badger5 would be my 1st choice.

wasting no time getting to work! Good stuff.

whats the purpose of this car?

Fast road car, drag car(santa pod) or a track slag?
either way it will be rediculously quick!

Just general hooning really, maybe the odd track day! And just for the fun of building it :)

Totally the same reason I do mine. Although yours is probably way better value for money. What does a Mk2 weigh? It'll go like stink.

in the new year, when I have my emulator
hoping Santa's going to bring me one for Xmas

Awesome. I know where my mk2 is going then 👍

That's good to know! I've bought some nice genesis injectors from Pat in the classifieds section today. Chuffed I haven't had to order them from the States in the end!

Well it's finally done!

Had a massive push to get it ready for ultimate dubs but we got it there, didn't finish till 4am on Sunday morning!!

still got a few things to do before I get it mapped. Managed to get a vr6 pump, tank, maf and dbc throttle body. Also got some injector spacers to fit my 550cc injectors today. Intercooler needs changing and I need to find a 3" turbo intake pipe. I've been wondering about getting one of these and modifying it to fit?

AUDI S3/TT SEAT LEON CUPRA BAM AMK SILICONE TURBO 80mm 3" KO4 TURBO INTAKE PIPE | eBay

Im also trying to find a vr6 adapter plate in the uk if anyone knows where I can get one from? Also does anyone know if the wiring is the same? The tb came off an AAA code vr. It's driving very well, bit of compressor surge but the cooler on it at the mo is tiny and it's only a custom code phase one map. It's flies tho and sounds properly mean. Done about 200 miles so far, I'll probably drop the oil again this weekend and do one last fill of mineral oil.

Cheers for looking

By the looks of things I'd assume you also frequent the E38 forum and after seeing that you attended UD that confirms it for me :p Absolutely love this thing mate and those 3 spokes are stunning, always loved those, just wish they did them in 18's so I could put them on my a3!

And there in lies the prob with ud, too much ed38/max power and not enough club gti/Audi sport! In my humble opinion of course!! I don't think I'll be going again, some of the cars are amazing but I'm more of a built not bought person. I love the wheels definitely a marmite thing though, some people almost seem offended by them :pI've looked at the badger5 tip, seems a bit pricy for a tight Northerner but I guess an email to bill wouldn't hurt! Alot to spend if it doesn't fit!!

Why not make one up yourself? at least if it doesnt work then you wont feel to gutted. Whats the inlet of the turbo?

Aye, suppose I could have a go. Inlet is 56mm I think. Biggest issue is the selector cables are very close, think I might try and move em over a bit.

not the best pic but it gives an idea. This is a creation motorsports k03 tip with the bottom cut off and a new section grafted on. Works ok for now but really want an 80mm intake so I can run a vr6 maf and let some more air in!

I'm sure Bill did a 3'' TIP for an ibiza he had in with an IHI underslung, I believe the centre of one of his adaptors was machined out to IHI size or something similar to get it to work.

Might be worth a PM

That's what I've been thinking, have sent bill a message though his ebay shop. I hear he's kinda busy at the mo. Does anyone know how tight the last curve into the turbo in the pipe is? It's very tight on space in mine.
