I started a thread some time ago about my sat-nav http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a4-a4-cabriolet-s4-forum-b6-chassis/153721-mmi.html

I finally got around to buying a genuine disc of the classifieds section
ClassifiedsImagephp

But it still won't work! I put the disc in and the message "disc not properly inserted" comes up, I have gently slid the end of a business card into the slot and I can feel that the disc is spinning so assume that it is actually in there properly but that there is some other problem
It was confirmed in the orignal thread that I do have the RNS-E unit.
Any help would be appreciated as I either need to spend some money or I have just wasted some!

The laser proberly needs cleaning. I bought a faulty rnse very cheap of here with the issue your describing. All I did was take the top off the rnse then there is a clear plastic cover, remove one side of that so you can lift it up and then get some cleaner on a cotton bud and clean the laser. Worked a treat on mine and mine is running perfect with a non genuine disc.

Yeah you were right!, took out the unit and cleaned the laser so now all working fine :arco:

Just out of interest if anyone else does this, when I first plugged the unit back in and switched on I couldn't the unit to respond so it was stuck playing music and i couldn't even get the front down to install the nav disc!
All I did was switch off and leave for a couple of minutes and then when I fired it up again everything worked, so I put the disc in and after it had done several software updates and re-boot's all was working A1 :icon_thumright:
