Folks,

So ordered the S5 Coupe Black Edition yesterday. Dealer tells me that build week 20 (May) is the next free slot. Though saying that they reckon they might be able to move things around or pinch a cancelled slot. So anyone had any success getting pushed up the queue, are the chances of getting a cancelled slot that high?

These are the boxes I ticked.....
Advanced Tech Pack
Advanced Key
Dynamic Steering
Hill Hold
Adaptive lights
Drive Select
Sports Diff
Damper Control
Folding mirrors
High Beam Assist
Tyre Pressure Mon
Perl effect Phantom Black

So you got a drive and ordered it then mate nice one. Sounds like a good spec too!

I am not sure about delivery times, with my S3 it was bang on time (4 months) however, I thought it was optimistic at the time because a lot of people were having issues with deliveries a couple of years ago and some waiting for a year! I think it was mainly the A3 BE's that were affected IIRC. I think it has got a lot better since though. I am hoping the A5 should be being built next week (week 2). so again 4 months from order if it happens on time. I guess for the S5 that sounds about right, just keep pestering the dealer haha

Still not managed to get a build week for my car. Will be 2 weeks tomorrow since I ordered and dealer tells me I'm still in the queue for a build week. I was kinda assuming it would only take a few days for them to get the order in or does it normally take a few weeks?

Cheers

PS - I just took my A3 (Quattro) out in Bristol in about 5inches of snow and went sideways down my road at <10mph. Day off work for me :)

I think it took me about a month to get a build week confirmed. IIRC shortly after ordering they said it was down as week 2 but not confirmed then sometime in November I was told build week 2 was confirmed. I guess it may take them a few days to place the order but not sure how long the average confirmation of build week takes.
Unfortunately I have had to do most of the chasing with the dealer but probably also because I am impatient and want it now haha! I have been told mine was built on time but is not at the port yet, hoping for end of Jan still though! I would ring them every week for an update.

Lol, they are very good to get you going and going up hills etc but once the grip has gone you cant do much about it. It's fun hand brake turning onto my drive (although I have been going a bit fast a couple of time and overshot it!) Can't do that with the e'brake in the 5's though. Just hope they are just as good in this weather as they are about 200kg heavier!

Cheers,
Nick

Ah looks like its just me being impatient.

I found this Audi In Stock | Cars which has the orders for the Bristol, Cardiff and Bath Audi dealerships. Its has order number, if its showroom/retail/fleet and build week etc.. quite a few A5s on there.

S & RS models have their own section but only got 3 on order and that doesn't sound like a lot so maybe its not all orders. Maybe cancelled cars that people could take? Was checking to see if my car showed up in the list....

I am just the same mate, I was supposed to be away for just over week from today but had to cancel and that would have helped take my mind off the waiting but now I will be here instead I feel like ringing or emailing them every day lol!

Not seen this sort of list before but yeah maybe they are cancelled orders, ask if you can take the RS5 until yours comes!

Just got my build week, scheduled for week 20 (mid May) which is what they estimated when I ordered so not too bad.

The dealer tells me that once allocated they normally get bought forward, anyone had this happen? I normally read stories of the opposite happening...

It does happen mate, my S3 was just under 2 weeks early in the end.

Also l just had a call from dealer saying my A5 is ready to collect tomorrow and that is pretty much bang on the quoted 16 weeks so I guess week 20 for yours is would be a similar delivery time.

Cool - bored waiting already :) Gotta go overseas for a few weeks so that should burn some time....

Have fun with you car tomorrow! Quite jealous

Cheers Lee, I was supposed to be away last couple of weeks myself so that would have taken my mind off it, but got postponed, however it has gone really quick so May will be here no time.

I am excited and a bit sad really as I will miss the S3 and petrol but have heard great things about the 3.0tdi and it has more toys on so I am sure it will be all good. I did want an S5 but car tax and mpg for my mileage didn't make sense unfortunately.

Hope yours comes early but as I said it will go quick.

Cheers,
Nick

I've just checked and whilst my car was officially "in production" when my dealer checked its status on 12th July (which coincided with the predicted build week that I was told), there are several parts on the car with a date stamp on them of 16-18th July (headlights & engine front cover...) so I think its safe to assume that the build week is the "start of production" and its at least a week later (if not two) before the completed car rolls out of the factory and starts on its way to the dealership....

So there was basically a four week gap between the "build week" when the car started to be built and the dealer ringing me to say that it had arrived in the country so he could plan a collection date...

Cool, cheers for the info...
They emailed today to say it had come forward from a build week end of May to one end of April so I guess it will arrive end of May time.

Takes forever ;)
