MPG, what do you get? TDI & TFSI?

The 3.0 is a good engine. The only issue I can think of is the inlet manifold/ runner which is common. I'm not even sure if the egr valve is a common fault or not but if I owned one I would map it out with the dpf, if it has a dpf

Manual 2.0 tdi 170.
mixture of motorway with cruise control on and London traffic, 30 mile round trip.
520 miles from a tank which is about 37mpg.

Haha, I have a 3.2 Quattro tip Avant and I get 26 mpg, mostly motorways and dual carriage ways at 85, but I do drive it like I stole it half the time, particularly on slip roads and off the mark (god I love the Quattro for this)

Glad I didn't get an oil burner now after reading this thread.

i've a 2.0tdi 140ps on average my MPG is about 42.x (auto)

from a full tank, and if i've driven a lot of mway milage and have been a sunday driver - i have got 750-800mile out of it.

For years, I used to keep an exact check on my fuel consumption, by brimming the takn to the same cutoff point, using the same pump, and then dividing the trip mileage by the number of gallons of fuel used. I got out of the habit when i got a car with a DIS, and just relied on what the readout said. But having recently read so many posts about the Audi DIS being over-optimistic I decided to check it by doing my own calculation on my last fill up.

I was astonished to find it was accurate to within 0.2mpg.

2.0T fsi owners in particular might be interested. I recently replaced my N80 (evap) and N75 (wastegate) due to a couple of errors I was seeing, since then my mileage has shot up to 400 miles per 60L tank fill up in my Quattro A4. If you're getting low mpg, check those fault codes!

I recently had my N80 replaced due to intermittent idling and engine mgmt light iluminated on the dash. Although my car now behaves a lot better the MPG is rubbish. Maybe I should look at replacing this N75 too. Do you have any further info on where its located and approx price of part?
Do you get those 400 miles on longer runs rather than town driving?

Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest all poor MPG would be to do with the N75, by no means, simply that in my case I had a crack in the valve. This is the wastegate control valve. I would get your car scanned for fault codes and take it from there.
Yes, my 400 miles was on long journeys, but my 325 miles previously was also on long journeys.

I Get about 54mpg on little stop start country roads on my way to work and around 65mpg on motowary if i drive carefull .
2.0tdi 140 PD
shame they cant run on bio though would save me a fortune. Wifes a3 does and its £50 to fill up

No worries Rich, I understand and would get my car scanned first anyway before replacing parts, I have learned that the hard way all ready!

I'm getting on average now, (new job & location), 330-340 miles per tank. So with a 63 litre tank, assuming 60 litres on a fill-up, 25mpg.

Isn't terrible, but doesn't seem that great from a 3.0tdi... Maybe I should have the map checked?

Don't assume. Measure it first. Then get it checked if need be.

I have stock factory map with no engine modifications. Driving is 50% motorway and 50% town with spirited driving style. Average = 33.44mpg and getting 449.5 miles per tank.
