Hi all, what products to people use or prefer for polishing?

Also has anyone tried Megs SwirlX or Ultimate compound to remove swirls?

I have a few light swirl marks and want to take them out but unsure or a decent product to try

Thanks

You'd been better asking this in the detailing section. :icon_thumright:

My tuppence worth anyway, i use 3m compound and a da.

I use Autoglym metal polish for tailpipes, autoglym resin polish for body.

I've used a few products all with good results. Auto Glym Ultra deep shine for dark colours. that is good stuff for just everyday polishing, or auto smart polymer polish or something like that it's called. Both work well with a machine polisher and eliminate small scratches and swirls.

I have a few 5 litre tins of this stuff called Gramos GT cut I got cheap. It's just a cutting compound, works well but sets like concrete if you leave it or apply too thickly

What wax's are any good at a reasonable price?

I've just bought some collinite 476s, quite impressed (only been on a week) but not used much else than AG SRP & AG EGP

"Blackfire midnight sun paste wax" not that cheap (£30) but very impressed with results (used on top of "blackfire wet diamond all finish paint protection")

There are so many products on the market and everyone has their own preference, I use AG SRP myself then as stated in my last post, I've found 'Blackfire all finish paint protection' (sealant) topped with 'blackfire midnight sun paste wax' does wonders to the look of the paint and seems to stay looking good for quite a while......
So wash, dry, SRP, sealent, wax.

I use Lake Country or Megs pads and Menzerna polishes. Which polish depends on the level of correction required. SRP is an excellent AIO. Very light abrasives but excellent filling qualities. As for wax, there are loads. But if on a budget you won't go far wrong with Poorboys Natty's paste wax.

For polishing I mainly use a Kestrel DAS-6, Meguiars 105#, 83#, 80# with sonus pads.

Ive got some SRP but think i need something a bit more powerful, anyone used P1?

SRP or super resin polish is only a filler so will never remove the scratches or marks and will just simply mask them. best do some research but alleays start with the lightest cutting compound and polish and work up. A DA is always good but again it's not
something that I would advice any joe blog to pick up and have a go with on their new pride and joy car.

Ideally i want to stick to methods by hand for now

That's all good asking for advice again is all well and good but I would pop onto a detailing world forum and do a search as that would be alot more specific there are also section that are specific to polishing and go into great detail

Ive just joined DW but i like to get ideas and opinions from all over, people on this forum have been very helpful with various things so far regarding my A4! Top people!

I'm quite an avid reader / poster on DW. It's the place to go for advice on car cleaning.
