Hi chaps,

My A4 lights seem to be letting in a lot of moisture, almost every morning I have condensation in the lamps visible as large drops in the corners of the units. Cant think what is causing the moisture, everything looks to be sealed and tight. Netherless Its starting to bug me so I would like to get them replaced.

I have been thinking of the following:

1) Buy direct replacements from AUDI
2) source a pair of Xenon headlights and retrofit (I am aware people will say I need washers etc but this doesnt worry me)
3) Buy a set of DRL lights from Ebay:

AUDI A4 B7 04-08 CHROME DRL LED PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS RHD | eBay

I am really interested in the DRLs - they look nice but just a bit wary of the build quality and more importantly the light output. Has anyone got any of these they are currently running. If so what do you think, presume I would run a HID kit with them as they are projector.

Any advice guys? Also how easy are the headlights to remove, understand its a bumper off job?

If you've got the money oem xenons are the way to go, but theyre not cheap.

FK automotive have a sale on, or atleast they did, they sell a few drl units and the quality is pretty good. general feedback about drls is theyre not quite as bright as oem on the B8 a4, but a lot of people run them and like the results.

Haven't fitted my new units yet (fk depos) probably boxing day? But yeah the bumper has to come off. Someone said you can do it leaving the bumper on but I haven't seen a write up for this method. I'm estimating a couple of hours to do the bumper, the lights and the alignment...

Or you could source a pair of halogens off ebay.

I've heard mixed storied about the non-OEM lights, from comments over they aren't as good as the halogens to concerns over the LEDs.

i have ordered a set of drls from fk automotive and they should be here this week so once they are fitted i will post a few pics and you can have a look

if you could please mate that would be good.

Any update on the lights ? Considering buying some of these myself and would be interested to see what they look like before i take the plunge.

sorry guys been working all weekend and not had time to fit them.i have took my bumper off before to put my rs4 grill on and it was a pain in the backside lol.once i get them on i will post a few pics but i would say they are well worth the money as they have projector lenses, led drls and they do look much better than the standard headlights

I am on the verge of buying these today, just can't make my mind up whether to go for black or chrome ones. Can I just confirm that these are definitely RHD compatible and will pass an MOT ?

iv used the DRL's on a few b7's
and i always go back to oem they just dont suit the lines on the car

Thinking of getting these ones Bez

Tuning FK Automotive | Headlight Daylight Set suitable for Audi A4 (type 8E) yr. 05-07 chrome | purchase online

should look ok as they will run with the lines of the wings. Just need confirmation they are RHD compatible. Do they normally have an adjuster inside to change from LHD to RHD ?
they will pass the MOT
but when you have them fitted you will see what i meen when i say they dont follow the lines of the car
and they will be RHD as there selling in ££££

They appear to be like mine, which do follow the lines of the cas(well I think so)

Any more pictures Lewie ? They look smart, so tempted to purchase now ! Where did you get yours from ? Are you happy with the LED quality ?

They look awesome IMO. Is your car atlas grey? Mine is so I think these lights would be perfect. Where did you get them from and how much please?

Finally took the plunge and ordered the lights this morning. Can't wait for them to arrive even if I am slightly apprehensive about removing the bumper !

Really worried now that the lights I bought are not going to be RHD compatible. The page doesn't say anything about being LHD or RHD but I've got a horrible feeling they are only going to be LHD. Apparently there is a metal switch inside to switch between LHD and RHD. Bizzab7 can you confirm this ? Have you managed to get yours fitted yet ?

Hi Oddie,

I'm sure they will be fine. I have fitted a couple of different types of these DRL/Projector style headlights. They both project a straight horizontal beam as per the pic below. Unlike the Halogen Headlights that kick up on one side, depending if they are LHD or RHD.

Hi Andy. Thanks for that. Where did you get yours from ? Did yours just take standard h7 bulbs ?

Cheers Andy, much appreciated. Do yours not have a switch inside then to change from lhd to rhd ?

When my lights finally arrive, is there a way that i can tell whether they are LHD or RHD by looking at them ? I don't want to go to the trouble of fitting them to find that they aren't legal

Cheers

iv always found that if the site that sells them is in ££ there right hand drive
but why dont you just call the company and ask

Tried ringing them but no answer every time. My German isn't fantastic anyway!

what site are they from

they are usaly good as in if there sending to the uk they are right handed
and left for the left handed market
so everything on there uk site is for the uk market

No switch/lever!

If they project a pretty much straight line/beam, what would be the difference from LHD to RHD anyway?

DHL attempted to deliver my lights today but nobody was at home. Going to collect them from the depot this evening, can't wait !

Well, just thought I would update this thread with my findings. My lights were delivered from FK and looked amazing ! They genuinely do look really smart, completely modernise the front end. Fitting them wasn't difficult at all.

As soon as i went out at night i knew straight away that they were LHD :( People flashing me constantly, the beam pattern was horrendous ! I actually got someone to drive past me in my car and they were dreadful, would have definitely caused an accident.

So, standard headlights were put back on the car. I was gutted :( After many phone calls to Germany and a little bit of language learning "Sprechen sie English ?", I managed to get FK to send me a return shipping label.

I decided to buy them from 2xcite on ebay, they are the exact same lights that i received from FK. Made my Sonar, completely identical. Slightly dearer but hey ho, never mind

Fitted them yesterday and I am delighted, really happy with them so far. Wouldn't mind wiring them into the ignition so that the sidelights are on constantly, may look into this.

Overall, a bit of a faff and a lot of messing about but definitely happy with them in the end.

Oddie, how do you find the light output at night, both dipped and main beam

Both really good, very impressed. I bought some uprated bulbs from a shop on eBay, not entirely sure if they have improved the output or not. Just as a side note, the bulbs i bought from eBay were £6 for 2xH7 includes free 501's. They are brilliant, really really crisp clear white colour.

I had philips bluevision in my standard headlights and wasn't that impressed with them, much happier with the ones i just bought

Hi Oddie..

Firstly mate, thanks for the info above, I was about to order to same lights as you from FK and luckily came across your post about them being for LHD.
Will do the same as what you've done and buy from 2Xcite.

How are you getting on with your lights, still pleased with them? Have you considered a HID for them? how do you think HID's will go with them?

Thanks

Absolutely delighted with them still matey. I love the DRL's, they really change the look of the front end. I just put some upgraded super white halogen bulbs in mine, really happy with them. I just wanted some that wouldn't look yellow and horrible so got some upgrade ones filled with xenon gas, they are really good.

I have toyed with the idea of a HID kit but if my understanding of the new regulations is correct, If i put HID's in them i would need to have headlight washers and auto levelling motors to pass an MOT.

If you want to ask anything else mate just give me a shout

hi all ive just installed some aftermarket drl's but think the light output from the headlights is quite poor the bulb fitting is H9 ive put some ultra bulbs in but still think its quite poor on the up side i did read you need to let them warm up slightly which i didn't but any thoughtsIMG 0134
