My tyres need changing soon, I was thinking of buying white tyre markers and painting the writing white. What do you think? Would it look good? or should I leave that for lightning mcqueen lol. Has anyone done it before? My car is currently PD matte white.

p.s sorry warren lol

I gotta say I think that looks quite good actually. At least the example in that picture does. Can you clean it off easy if it looks crap? Is so, why not just give it a go?

The size of the lettering might be a factor too. The Toyo is quite large. Small lettering might look worse. I'll be interested in seeing the results mate.

Use to do this on my previous motorbikes but never thought about doing it on the car.

Lightning McQueen was awesome lol

Lovely car, but white lettering on tyres is a bit chavvy imho.

Its permanent, so once I do it and it looks *** I'm ******

Andy any tips? What did you use? Bring on Cars 3! lol

Really...? Chavy? you think so?

seen as your tyres need changing soon, why not do it to your current tyres first, then if it looks **** then once you get your new tyres leave them black,

as for the pic above it looks quite good, is it a photoshop? there just looks to be too much tread for a r888 tyre

Paint them and if they look dump simply change front left tyre to front right, rear left to rear right and hey presto the writing vanishes.

Do the spare tyre first and see what you think, if you like it then do it. for the bike you could get a proper pen from deamon tweaks to do. I'd imagine it would take a bit of time to do all 4 tyres though.

On bikes I actually like the look of it and its popular but not see it done on a car, unless you watch cars lol

Looks smart!! i have done it before on numerous tyres and its not permanent. Mines usualy came off after a few weeks hard driving but an alloy wheel brush or similar with some paint thinner and hey presto. I plan to do mine in yellow next time i have a brand of trye i wouldnt mind people seeing. remeinds me of the old scalextrix car tyres.

Im my opinion, from that angle that car looks as perfect as perfect can get. Love they tyres, I would defiantly have them on mine.
I dont think it looks chavvy.
That said, while i'm writing this i'm wearing joggers and a hoody. I'm starting to fear I may be a closet chav.

DO IT!!

I love it even if others dont, and I'm seriously considering doing it to mine!

Think about it a bit more :icon_thumright: I said swap tyres not wheels

I just did, lol - directional tyres are marked with outside therefore the white writing would still be on the outside regardless of which corner you put it on :)

It's not a Nascar so leave them black lol.

My directional tyres are marked left and right, box500's reply makes sense to me, if you had a left hand side tyre(pass) and it said outside when situated on the left hand side, but then you put it on the right hand side (drivers) it would still say outside on the outside but the direction of tread would of changed, and would run in the wrong direction,

i think there marked outside/inside for no directional, and left and right for directional tyres,

In the days of the motor shows such as Earls Court many manufacturers had the tyre makes name painted in white, just check out some old pictures. Note also how many of the F1 teams polish and buff and paint the siedewalls on their transporters, Jackie Stewart in particular was almost paranoid on the subject when he ran his own F1 team.
Keeping the tyres sidewalls as clean as the rest of the car is often overlooked and highlighting the tyre branding is a nice way of proving that the owner has done a proper job. Not in the least bit Chavy, a term incidentally that is now just a sad worn out cliche.

do it with chalk during a dry day and if you like it go for it with decent paint, otherwise if you dont like it then just wash the chalk off easy solution

Chalk? I'll give it a try, Will it make a solid white colour on the tyre though? Bought some tyre pen markers of the bay. Done some research, apparently I have to remove each wheel to paint because the ink is very runny.

you dont need to remove the wheel. you can control the amount of paint that comes out quite easily infact most of the time it dries up rather than running. the one thing i would definatley do is make sure the bit of the tyre you want to paint is closest to the wheel arch to avoin ground clearence issues.

I must admit, I dont like the sound of the idea, but the car in the OP looks great, though the writing on those tyres Isn't white from the look of it?

yh just blackboard chalk easy to rub off just to look at just incase you hate it, also if you go through with it upload some pics please i might want to do it also :p

Tipex would do the same job as to give you an idea of what it actually looks like & would come off quite easy

Thanks, yes I forgot some tyres are asymmetrical..

Like I said before, do the spare and then doesn't matter if you don't like it, stick it back in the boot and forget about it

Not something I would do.

Best reserved for an american muscle car or off road jeep wrangler in my opinion.

Found a marker last night, did this before work today. I love stickers so to me it looks good. Might color in more when the marker from ebay arrives. Can anyone recommend any tyres that have a nice wall design
