Got a phone call from the wife today stating that the engineer at her work had to put oil in her car as she decided to check the levels........6300 miles and not even showing on the dipstick......how lucky was she.

Now I thought I would go and check the S3 as the mileage on that isnt far infront of hers and low-and-behold the level was just below MIN.

I know that Audi class 1L of oil per 1000 miles as normal as I complained to them when our TDI was munching thro oil at a rate of knots.

Whats everyone elses consumption. When I bought the car I had the oil level come up on the DIS which it no longer does. Any idea why it isnt there now??

Just had a complementary visual health check done by Audi last week when car was there.
print out stated car needed 1/4 ltr.
7800 miles first time I've put any in.

I topped mine up around that time I think.

Then it had first service at around 12k, then used a fair bit (ie near min level )of its oil by 17k.....thankfully Forge re-filled!!! How kind :)

Mine hasn't dropped off maximum in 3000 miles. But my a4 tdi sline used to use quite a bit

Mine uses about 1ltr of oil every 4000 miles. Not bad I feel for a 118,000 miles on the clock

Need to have a closer look at my PCV though, the intake after the crankcase is rather oily

Mine was using 1 litre per 1500 miles, but the car was only doing short journeys. With longer runs and the mileage building (25k miles) the thirst for oil does seem to slow down though the 2.0T is known for its oil consumption. Our 2010 TDi 170 CR doesn't use any.

Check the oil, brake fluid and tyre pressures every week on the S3 and the TTS ( it's called O.C.D !! ) and both have only needed small top ups in the last 18 months....maybe 1/2 litre each over the last 15,000 miles.

i ran them in carefully but press-on in both nowadays, so it's not as if they are given an easy life....just lucky I guess !!

I use nitrogen in my tires, and never check them. Well, when they have a puncture and look low of course I get them sorted. This inert gas keeps the same pressure in the tyres over heat change, and seems to never go down.

Ive used maybe 4 litres of oil over 20k miles in my 130 tdi. Most of this was down to boost leaks and rockercover gaskets!

Well I phoned the garage to voice my concerns and let them know that the rate of oil consumption was indeed crap. The service dude agreed with me but said it was Audi policy to go for 1L per 1000 miles.

I then asked how much Audi would charge for another oil change as I didnt change the filter...........you all need to be sitting down for this as I had to pick myself up off the floor.

4.5L of Castrol Edge (which I had bought the other day from Halfords using ther trade card = £37) which they were charging nearly £75 for.
x1 Oil filter
x1 sump plug

Total price including the labour would of worked out at £205.

I asked if I bought the stuff would they fit it.........NOPE!!! As the 6 main Scottish Audi dealerships are now owned by Lookers they do not allow this anymore...........all I can say is........Ya Robbin Barstewards.

mine is in for a oil service tomorrow morning (just hit 10k miles) so will ask how much oil if lost. i'm taking my own oil (castrol edge) and the dealer has no problems. with the oil filter inc. its gunna set me back £110 for service

Just snake oil, save your money.

well the labour charge to change the oil i supplied was £97. they forgot to let me know how much oil i had used in the 10k miles i have owned the car. makes you think if dealer stamps are really worth it.

on the plus side, was able to get my snowboard out today and take a few runs on a hill near to me
