I am just about to give my dealer the go ahead on an A3 Sportback S Line 1.4TFSI (would have preferred 1.8 but no manual option available) in Glacier White with various options including a Tech & Comfort Pack, Heated Front Seats, Audi Phone Box, Interior Lighting Pack and Privacy Glass. Didn't really consider going with the roof rails until I placed a set of Black ones on this model in the configurator, it just finished off the car nicely, since then have been trying to find a real shot of these on a Sportsback, I would appreciate if anyone in their travels has seen these rails in action lol, still considering the silver but with the privacy glass looks ace, it would be interesting to know if anyone out there is bothering with rails at all.

Hi Paul

Ive ordered a Misano Red Sportback with aluminium roof rails andprivacy glass, i think the rails are a must on the sportback as it really sets the car off (my opinion) i havnt seen one with black rails though

I take your point Jeff thats why I am anxious before placing the order to see one of these models in the flesh, the dealer advised this afternoon that the Black rails compliment the White finish particularly as I plan to get Privacy Glass (shame they dont graduate the shading from the A pillar back like BMW et al instead of the B pillar back) searched just about every search engine out there, may need to go with the safer bet of Alu rails if unable to locate one, all the publicity shots show the Alu rails so Audi probably reckon this is the safer look.

Went for alu rails on our Phantom Black order. When I've seen black rails on other cars I always think they look a bit aftermarket...

I think that I am probably going to opt for the Aluminium rails as I am unable to find any shots of the Black rails anywhere, you'd expect Audi to at least reference them in their brochure, Aluminium rails look good particularly on the darker colours, might just lose the privacy glass to get the Audi Sound System, there's a lot of juggling going on here, hopefully all will be sorted by Monday!

Black rails on an a3 sb looks aftermarket, mate you havnt seen my car then, looks nothing like aftermarket, 8P that is, no way you can mistake the 8V ones for aftermarket either imho.

I've ordered the panoramic sunroof and left off the roof rails! Could still change my mind but really undecided! Anyone have any thoughts on this? Ordered in glacier white!

Order roof rails, think it looks better imho.

Seen panoramic in old a3 but black roof rails wasn't a good look but going to have a white car black roof and privacy glass not sure if aluminium would go?

Black roof rails if was me, on a white car, good contrast.

With a nice S3 bodykit it will look lovely.

I don't like the rails on it. Makes it look more like an estate imo.

not getting this just as an example order the new sport back!

Think ill stick to without don't like the old one with them but think on the pictures without sunroof rails look good!

On my glacier white im going for sliver roof rails as I havent gone for the black pack. Ive got the pan roof. I blieve it looks beta and I know alot people will go black and white better for me.

I used to have a Phantom Black 2009 A3 S-Line with Black Roof Rails, it looked good. I've now got a new Daytona Grey A3 S-Line but opted to not go for the roof rails at all. I'd want the roof rails to be colour coded ideally.

Brilliant black black roof rails and pan roof with privacy glass , stealthy

Are the rails easy to fit afterwards?

I quite fancy some but not if I have to take the car apart to put them on!
