i think my parking sensors have a fault?, when i start the car from cold and stick it in reverse i get a continuous beep, but after runnning the car and putting it in reverse i get no continuous beeps? i tried scanning with vcds and get no faults, so i tried to scan the part assist module and it says not found?

so how do i scan for faults on the parking sensors?
 
Depending on the year, module 76 is parking on older 8P's & module 10 on newer facelifts, try either direct & see what happens.
 
I don't think it is a fault. On my one when I stick it in reverse I do get the continuous beep for a second or two (seems like longer) but then it settles down to normal operation. So for example, if I was sat on the drive and put it into reverse I would get the continuous sound for a bit. If I drove forward and the reversed onto the drive it would be normal.

Have you tried cleaning the sensors? Give them a good wash and see if that helps. This time of year with all the road salt and muck caked on it can severely limit the detection range.
 
Depends how long the beeps are for, I need to check tbh if there's an adaptation for this beep duration.

hmm maybe it is normal then? i have tried cleaning the sensors, but to be honest it has been the same since i had the car i got it second hand so i don't know what i should be hearing?

but i get the same as you start up from cold continos beep for what seems like 10 seconds, then it stops the sensors work when i reverse off my drive, then when the engine is warm i get one beep when i stick it in reverse?

very strange mine is a 57 tfsi quattro
 
10 seconds is way to long & indicates a fault, so could be the cold is affecting the sensor system & initially thinking its a fault.

it's been doing it since i've had it, back in july so can't be the cold

if i do a full vagcom scan would it show up? or do i need to scan the module for the sensors?
 
Well if it works even when long beep, then should be ok for now, but when it does long beep, test each sensor by standing in front of them, also check in the module itself & check readings when standing in front of them.
 
just scanned module 76 park assist and it says no response from controller?

Well I would check for any water in the rear drivers quarter incase its got wet & affected the wiring, the fact it beeps when its in reverse means its getting a signal from the cars systems via canbus to make it beep, but this maybe why its giving the faulty long beep.
