Hi, got a set of audi a8 d2 20" alloy wheels, they are 8.5" wide and thinking to fit them to a c5 audi a6 lowered on Eibach springs. I need larger wheels as i have rs4 b7 front brakes to go which won't fit behind fat5 wheels without spacers, ! I have hp2 allroad brakes fitted at the moment and they are not man enough to stop the car from high speed ! As some may remember, it's fjtwelve's old a6 with double the stock power ! I have d3 9" wheels at the moment on my c5 allroad but i run 25mm spacers to clear the uprights. What is the best tyre size that could go on 8.5" wide rims without looking too stretched. I would probably go for Michelin Pilot or Falken tyres... Thanks !

I'll try to find out later, maybe I can help you with tyres at wholesale prices including fitting.
Txt me or send pm when you know what size. What size tyres you got on the 18" Fat Fives?
What you gonna do with fat fives? Might be interested.

Thanks mate, really don't know what size will fit well without being too stretched, the Falken's i have on the allroad look a little stretched on the allroad, albeit on a 9" rim !

Perfect timing. Apologies Chris, for the thread-jack, but it's sort of related.

I am also looking for tyres for my 20" 8.5" wide A8 wheels for my C5 allroad. Read up lots on loads rating. Currently got 225/55/17 (97Y) on stock 5 spoke rims, 2.1bar all round. Feels way too floaty.

Hope i've got this right. So you take the kerb weight plus the average max cargo weight, divide by 4 which should give you the load rating for each tyre??? Did it the other way from Parker's Guide. Kerb weight = 1790kg. So. 97=730kg. 730x4= 2920kg. 2920-1790=1130kg. 1130/4= 282.5kg per wheel.

Most places suggest an upgrade to 255/35/20 (101). What tyre pressures do you run?

CURRENTLY ARE USING 275 X 35 X 20 ON 9J AND ALL FINE AND HANDLING JUST GREAT CURRENTLY THINKING OF GOING TO 9.5J WOLFRACE RR

I'm running 225/35 tyres on my 20's, my car is a tad lower and not really going for an OE look, the tyres are stretched a bit.

The offset is ET35 which I believe is the minimum i'd say you could run. With the suspension as low as i've gone on mine then next issue is the actual arch clearance on the front, when I deck the coilovers the tyres are literally rubbing on the wing!

I'd say if you want to run wider tyres with less stretch and more profile you'll need a lower offset to clear the front strut, then you run in to issues of arch clearance.

Have a look at how 225/35/20 fit on an 8.5" rim on ET35 all round:
