Coming home lights problem

I fitted coming home lights to my 2004 A3 TDI Sport yesterday and programmed it according to a link I got from this site.

However, the coming home lights do not actually come on when I lock the car - but the lights do come on when I unlock the car. Has anyone had this problem before?

The coming home lights come on once the key is out the ignition and the drivers door has been opened.
They only do this once so if you unlock the car then lock again they wont come on.
thats what its like on my car so i would say this is normal.
 
mine dont come on when i take my key out of the ignition though. The leaving home lights work as expected but the coming home lights do not work at all.

Had it double checked today and neither of those problems are it. Just done a quick search and it appears loads of people have had the same problem - main advice seems to be to try and fiddle with the different channels etc.

If anyone else could suggest anything that would be great!
 
Just noticed another problem - the leaving home lights only work if ive just finished driving, lock the car and then unlock the car. If I go to my car having left it locked for a period of time they do not work!
 
How have you 'set' the system... Have you installed a 'CH/LH' light switch or just done it with a wire to the chassis?

Both work the same way, I retro'd mine with a wire and works perfect but it my be possible that it hasn't quite 'set' or is switching back off somehow
 
have you enabled both coming home and leaving home?

coming home works when you have had the engine on, then you switch it off and take the key out the ignition and then open the drivers door... only then the lights come on until the timeout (20-30 seconds whichever you have set) runs out

leaving home works when you just unlock the car after it has been locked and will stay on until either the timeout occurs at which the doors will auto lock or until you open the drivers door... if you however keep unlocking and locking the car to switch it on or off then it just stops lighting up the headlights until you next switch on the car.

sounds like you have enabled the coming home and not the leaving home.
 
its the other way round ash - the leaving home ones work as you say but the coming home dont at all!
