iPhone 5 & RNS-E compatibility

Maybe now is a good time to sell my disused 'GROM Audio' iPod\iPad\iPhone(>4s) & Bluetooth adaptor, formerly used in conjunction with my ex-Concert II+???

Bluetooth streaming has progressed so much recently, in my pioneer unit I have the parrot Bluetooth that supports A2DP, I use it now and then when friends get into the car and it does play the music in a very high quality

As for the connector apple knew that everyone would want one... Why they didn't start supplying one as soon as the iPhone 5 was released is the problem... They have you hooked onto their products and then they keep you waiting and begging like a crack whore

Cheers!

My issue is having to carry the one lead everywhere. I keep leaving it in places and nearly running out of charge. I have one of those plugs for my car and it works great just need to get more leads.

Cheers,
Si

I don't think anyone has one yet as Apple haven't shipped any? Could be wrong though.

My 5 works just as good as my older 4 did, no problems with that. I assume Audi will produce a new AMI lead when they can?

Si

Si so your iPhone 5 is connecting and working okay with the BT? Yeah Audi shud release a lead within the next 3 months I shud imagine..

Yeap spot on mate, no issues at all!

Will wait for the lead I think as i haven't got anything else to plug it in to so need for the adapter.

Cheers!

Hello all,

I have got the adapter now and guess what.... it will charge the phone but comes up "unsupported" on rnse.

Anyone got a new one to work with the adapter?

cheers,
si

Forgot to post, got the adapter on my 2010 RNS & works 100% with AMI, exactly as before, my BT is fine also. So glad I chose the iPhone5 and didn't get a 4S.

;)

Cheers mate!

My adapter will charge ok but doesn't work with the AMI at all? Did you get your adapter from Apple?

I love my IPhone isn't brilliant!

Cheers,
Si

By reports the apple adapter works for analogue audio fine, but no video, BT will work ok if latest module fitted.

I have a 2012 S3, Bluetooth works fine, plugging the phone into AIM via 30 pin to lightning connector doesn't work. It just sits on INIT forever.

Hi mate,

Mine is a 2012 Black edition and it says "not reconsigned" when plugged in. Charging is fine.

Is yours a genuine apple adapter?

Cheers,
Si

Interesting as the ami unit has changed part number, so be good to check if older/newer part numbers are the difference, I think N8 has the previous part number.

Yeah genuine "lightning to 30 pin adapter" it's not the dongle, it's the 0.2m cable. Bought from apple store online.

I ended up buying a ipod classic to leave in the car.

Hm... Mine is the adapter. A guy at work has the others so will maybe try his. I have a 80gb video that I leave but updating is a pain in the **** as the phone gets all new songs I buy without doing anything.

Cheers for answer!

I hate having to pull it out to sync it.

I was thinking about getting a ipod touch, then I could use wifi sync while the car is in the garage.

Does anyone know of a stereo A2DP adapter what works with the AIM?

MY2011 S3
RNS-E

iPhone 5
Bluetooth works 100%
AMI with 30pin to Lightining Adaptor works 100%

:)

Can also confirm that my iPhone 5 works on the RNS-E (media edition). I even use a cheapo cable from eBay into a genuine apple 30-pin adapter thing. But I've since bought a 160gb iPod, and occasionally use the iPhone for streaming podcasts or using TuneIn Radio. 1xtra sounds good on the Bose ;)

Yep mine works perfectly. Try switch your iPhone to airplane mode then back on again
