Right, when my ignition is off the fan just kicks in, wether car is hot or cold, when i put the key to the on position for the ignition lights it stops?? Any ideas?

Sounds like a faulty fan module ....I had the same issue and it's a common fault on are year of cars.
Think it's around £150 - £200 for a complete fan unit including module.

Great, just what i wanted to hear, i've had nothing but trouble with the car in the 2 months ownership, im really thinking of selling and going back to a trusty 306 dturbo!
About a month this happened to me however not so much like your situation. For me randomly no matter when...driving, parked or at traffic lights or even if the car was off my fan used to go off and on!!!
Ended up as 2 sensors which i got replaced, hope it helped

I just had my fans replaced as the engine cooling fan would stay on constantly and drain the battery. I was lucky and got a second hand one for 70 pounds. I would of went new but my flywheel has cost me a small fortune lately.
Fan stays off now and comes on when needs to. Go second hand for now if you can then save up for a new one mate.
