So, a few months ago I took my A4 into Audi after buying it second hand for one of their free health checks.
At that time I had already replicated it to look like an S4 Avant.
I mentioned this to the lady who said oh its ok we work from the chassis number. fair enough...

It came up with number plate light repair and had cracked anti roll bar collars.
So I had the plate lights fixed and told them to swivel as they wanted £216 to fix the collars !!!

I get a call from Audi this morning to offer me a reduced price to fix the roll bar collars at £203 lmao.
It was a different person who called me and said "morning sir, your S4 avant on registration etc etc"
Fail!

Its now due a service and the audi specialist I use quotes £202 for a full service including change of oil filter and fuel filter.
Audi wanted £476!!!!!!!

Wtf is wrong with audi they are useless

I keep getting phone calls from the local dealer about my "A4", it's not it's an RS4.

I've also had a letter from then telling me the cambelt needs changing - it doesn't as it doesn't have a cambelt, it's got duplex chains.

IMHO two things are going wrong at Audi:
- the dealers are employing people who can use the diagnostic tools but don't have proper engineering skills
- Audi UK are getting greedy with their pricing

Why do you think I use an indie for all my servicing and repairs except anything that's free or which they don't have the tools for (like DRC recharging)?

Quite right, especially with the greedy pricing. Its extortionate! and especially for you, running an RS4 is costly enough without their epic prices. £90 an hour!!!!

AudiTeesside are currently charging £99/hour and thats here in the NE.
I have heard reports of some Southern Audi Main Dealers charging £123/hr

£90 an hour? Thats cheap. My local is about 130-150

Thats fkin ridiculous. So far ive had all my work done at an audi specialist that have done far better than audi main dealers for £45/hr.
Money grabbers, asif the cars arent expensive enough!

My local dealer used to charge 110+vat an hour when I used to work there. Staff rate was more than taking it to the local independent

If you want cheap running cost why didn't you buy a cheaper car? ***, quit moaning, it was your choice to buy a car with a blue chip badge so what was you really expecting ?
A large number of Audi's are company cars, the driver doesn't pay for the servicing so obviously the price is going to be inflated. shop around and you will get it cheaper, just like everything else in life.

Its like buying a Lambo and moaning about how much your tyres cost.

you make a fair point...but in my defence... this is my first audi and I had a Mazda 3 beforehand and did not know the costs involved lol.

Prices get inflated because us Brits are not as willing to complain as we should be, companies are complaining that their margins are being squeezed so they should be negotiating on all costs include those for servicing company cars.

So there really is no excuse for Audi dealers charging labour rates that are extortionate, other than pure greed on their part fed by stupidity on our part.

I totally agree with you about shopping around - that's exactly what I do, which is why everything I can get done by a GOOD local indie and only visit the dealer when I hear of a Service Campaign or need work doing that only a dealer has the equipment to do.

When I use to work in aviation the engineering hourly rate was £55 and to think a plane is a hell of a lot more complicated!

I dont know Nutta, have you seen some of their engineering solutions used to over complicate what should be simple processes like fueling an engine??

Worth every penny! :jester:
