Hi, I've just retro-fitted heated and folding mirrors on my 2012 A1. (Mine didn't even have heated mirrors wtf).
I did it by purchasing the entire new mirrors, looms and updated control modules from a German breaker.
VCDs has allowed me to enable heated and folding options through accessing the control module and the mirrors are working fine.
I'm not too sure how these systems work and whether there are un-mapped parts of the control modules which can't be accessed by vcds yet.
If anyone has an A1 with heated and folding mirrors would they mind posting me a vcds scan of the two door control modules please, so I can compare the coding with mine.
Also, as a general comment, does anyone know if certain outside temperatures have an effect on the switching on or off of the heating element in the mirror. e.g. Mine come on (and its 19 degrees outside) when the engine is started and the mirror switch is in the central position. VCD's tells me that they are set to stay on for 600 seconds (and this appears to be correct).
What happens after the 600 seconds and the outside temperature is below freezing? Do they automatically come on again? Also, how hot does your mirror glass get, mine are quite hot, I can just about keep the back of my hand pressed against the glass!
Are there any other vcd's changes which can be done regarding temperature etc with the mirrors?
Thanks
Neil
