Hi, I've just retro-fitted heated and folding mirrors on my 2012 A1. (Mine didn't even have heated mirrors wtf).

I did it by purchasing the entire new mirrors, looms and updated control modules from a German breaker.

VCDs has allowed me to enable heated and folding options through accessing the control module and the mirrors are working fine.

I'm not too sure how these systems work and whether there are un-mapped parts of the control modules which can't be accessed by vcds yet.

If anyone has an A1 with heated and folding mirrors would they mind posting me a vcds scan of the two door control modules please, so I can compare the coding with mine.

Also, as a general comment, does anyone know if certain outside temperatures have an effect on the switching on or off of the heating element in the mirror. e.g. Mine come on (and its 19 degrees outside) when the engine is started and the mirror switch is in the central position. VCD's tells me that they are set to stay on for 600 seconds (and this appears to be correct).

What happens after the 600 seconds and the outside temperature is below freezing? Do they automatically come on again? Also, how hot does your mirror glass get, mine are quite hot, I can just about keep the back of my hand pressed against the glass!

Are there any other vcd's changes which can be done regarding temperature etc with the mirrors?

Thanks

Neil

Neil,

This will hopefully be of use, it's not my car but an extract of a scan that I picked up from the A1 Forum to assist me in comparing coding of the various modules, this one has heated and folding mirrors:

This one is mine which unusually has heated but not folding mirrors, I've also enabled mirror dip on the passenger side:

I hope this is of some help, let me know if you need any further details.

Cheers Steve, I apreciate your help mate

A question for Nigel (NHN) if you don't mind. In you experience of retro fitting heated and folding mirrors (bearing in mind mine didn't even have heated mirrors) are you able to give advice on whether its a simple case of checking the heated option through VCDs and folding option on VCDs, or are there other bytes to explore re temperatures settings. The A1 has had too much work done on it by Ross Tech yet. still being developed lol.

Mine are getting quite hot!!

Cheers Neil

just enable via each door controller and thats it

no mmi/rmc function its a basic system input via switch output via door control

all mvb's in door control units no other very very basic is the a1

as temp increases the resistance decrease and the control unit has pre mapped values to work out on/off

engine must be running from memory

Hi
I'm new to this Sorry to bother you but I need your advice any one can help please. I fitted folding Morris and modules on my Audi A1 but when I do left indicator is doing right indicator and right indicator is doing left indicator and even when I do the electric mirrors it's doing same, when I Turn switch to do left electric mirror it's doing the right mirror and when I do the right electric mirror it's doing the left. Is this a coding issue would you say ? Can this be sorted true VCDS ? Thanks for any one that can help or advice much appriceate it
