Not sure what happened maybe someone messed it up but now the boot wont open from the drivers door switch or the key, not hat bothered but it's a pain in the backside trying to open the boot with a key.

Sounds like you've lost power to the boot solenoid.

When mine did this, after a couple of days or so I'd lost all lighting relating to the boot - ie numberplates, rear fogs etc.

It's a common fault ironically caused by opening and closing your boot.

There's a bank of wires that sit within a plastic protection tube which is strapped to the left hand hinge. Wires within here fray over time and eventually break.

You need to strip the protective covering off, locate the broken wire and reconnect it.

In my case it was the earth wire and I lost the lot.

as above i had the same
thick brown wire was my problem.

It just failed it's MOT for no REG or fog light so it seems to be the same problem, cheers.

Quick update, found the broken earth under the left hinge in the side wall of the boot, replaced broken section, heat shrinked, job done.
:thumbsup:Thanks for the help everyone!

So looks like mine will the earth after stumbling across this.

Look I'm off Thursday so weather permitting I'm on it Carl.

Is it set to valet mode? I had this recently, put key in and turn it to a different position (forget which) and it's all perfect again
