Evening people, has any one had any thing like this happen or know what to do next?
my a4 170 b7. 3 days ago emmision light came on and had the erg( valve on the manifold that recycles exhaust) replace and reset . All was ok until today after very short journey glow plug light came on while driving. Got home turned off then read to check brake light which were ok but no light now but it does not have the kick when u get to about 1900 rpm but does kick at about 3000 other thing to add is I was trying out the speed warning thing and think that may have come on just before glow plug light did.Any thing to check as have a journey to Portugal in a week. Thanks
Also just wondering if resting the ecu would be a idea or would this just hinder me when i go back to the garage on monday as they will want to plug it in and would not want to clear any fault codes that would come up.

Please can any one coment if you have any ideas realy pulling my hair out with this

Have you logged the car as yet?

Whats with the small writing :p

Car has been loged on to site now as im still finding my way round. Not sure about small text i blame stupid pc's lol

Come again, I mean log the car with vcds to see what the errors, if any, are showing.

Sorry is vcds the equivelent of vagcom? If so im going back to garage tomorrow as they diagnosed the first fault as the erg and replaced. I believe the error is linked in some way to the engine speed warning as i was driving today and pressed the spanner to set speed and then exceeded the speed to hear buzzer to say exceeding speed and then glow plug flashing . Stopped left it for 5 mins and then nothing but still lacks that big kick at 1900 rpm (feel it a bit but not as much as befpre) i believe.

VCDS is vagcom, its the new name for some while now :)

Speed warning may just be coincidental, try disabling speed warning & seeing if it still happens as same speed.

done that, when it first came on i had been trying out speed warning then turned it off then did as said and came on so the two times i have had it on are the two times glow plug light as flashed will go and try again now. Give me 5 and ill report

right has not done it the only other thing is that the two times it has come on i had been out in the car and then driven it after standing for a bit and its been hot days but both have come on while driving one at 40 ish and one at10-15??????

Right a update. got it plugged in and had two faults one was air mass but when faul was cleared so was fault, took it for a drive and still no faults. Asked why it would be lacking in power a bit and said that boost was all correct and air mass readings were spot on . Have to carry on driving to see if it happens again. But would like to say how nice they was about it and didnt charge me (highams park german specialist).
He did tell me not to clean air mass so any one else have a magic ball?

Would of been nice to see what the faults actually were tbh.

Sorry for late reply don't have codes but one was air mass sensor fault and the second was intake manifold flap. Light came on twice today both short journeys but again a very hot day and in typical London traffic.
Was told that there was a software update for my car and wondered if that was needed since my new erg was fitted.
Will get codes tomorrow when I take it back again. I have a feeling air mass but was showing correct readings when last pluged in.

Wright after lots of scratching of heads and a very helpfull garagae in highams park i believe i have now found the fault with my car. On the side of the manifold there is a small vacume bottle which opens and closes a flap on each manifold intake to leghnthen and shortening, thus my lack of power at 1800 rpm and inturn giving incorect air flow readings.
My only problem now is audi dont do it as a spare which means its either a new manifold at £460 +vat or find one of a donnor car or i maniafacture one and try to link it to rod which disapears into maifold.
Has any one got any ideas where to start looking or any bright ideas i had a shrick manifold on my old vr and i know that had a vacume to open the valve so will look to see if i can find one of those. Hear is a pick of the part as it has no part no i can see. Thanks in advance
