Lava Grey - Grille Recommendation

Hi All,

Im after an opinion from the forum.

Lava Grey car..... do I put an all black S3 Optics Grille on or leave it with the stock grey with chrome trim? I like the look of the optics grille, but unsure of if it'll suit the dark grey?

yep I think it would look great. I had phantom black SB with a full gloss black grill

I'm definitely for the grey with chrome, but you will drive the car - make your own decision based on your opinion :yes:
 
I was going to do a photoshop for my mate with the same colour options so bare with me and i will get one done soon...

ok, whats the dif between the BE grill and the optics grill?
The pics above look the same to me lol :-/
 
I think in the first picture the line going downward actually behind the grill,but on the second grill the lines actually stand out more on the front. Thats what I think as I am like you,cant really tell the different lol.
 
The slats go horizontal on a BE grill, on the S3 they go vertical similar to the pre facelift S-Line grill....
 
Larger slats on the optics grille, plus as pointed out by H88 the downwards slats protrude further. Also looks from those pictures as though the optics grille surround is a gloss finish whilst the BE is matte?

Think this is Dolphin, rather than Lava, but you get the idea. Optics grill = the way to go.

I got a FK automotive RS style black grille on my Lava Grey A3 and I really do prefer it to the old stock chrome and grey slotted one I used to have so If you got the money S3 optics grille go for it :D if not go to FK automotive as they have all sorts and some really cheap :)

That photo (or short series of photos, I think there were 4 total) were what made me decide on an S3, and sparked the Speedline hunt too. An inspiration! If I could have found a low-mile car in grey with buckets I would have bought it, but there were only blue and black ones when I was looking to buy (and no buckets!).

Ultimately, I've got to make the decision but am definitely swayed towards the black optics.............

Hi Rob,

Do you still have the BE grill? Do you have a picture of just the grill?

How easy are they to change? The chrome surround on mine was cracked when I got the car and I was told by the dealer that the whole bumper had to be changed to fix it.

Mine is lava grey
